Congressman Cleaver Talks Veterans Day

Today's word from a top KC elected official . . .

Honoring Those Who Gave

This weekend, I will engage in some of the many Veterans Day celebrations going on across the country. It is one of my most prized and valued events…honoring those who gave and those who continue to give so much to our country. Our veterans should be appreciated daily. Without them, we would not be able to enjoy some of our freedoms today.

There are several organizations that specifically help our veterans. One of them, that I had the opportunity to visit, was the Veterans Community Project’s Tiny Home Village.
I can recall the very first time I stepped into one of the homes in the Tiny Home Village in Kansas City, Missouri. The goal of the project was to build 50 tiny homes just for our homeless veterans in order to get them off the street and into a the home they deserve. But it doesn’t just end there. The founders of the Veterans Community Project wanted to provide transitional housing for homeless veterans.

It is extremely difficult for someone to get and maintain a job without an address. Without a job, one cannot get an address. They implemented social services programs and resources such as job training and job application assistance to move them forward.

Just thinking about how a veteran, who may have been sleeping on a park bench last year, will be able to have a Thanksgiving dinner inside a home this year fills me with great joy.

By helping our veterans, we are saying to them that we care. All of us, at some point in our lives will need support and someone to believe in us. Let’s keep the momentum going. This weekend, as you go about your weekend activities, stop for a moment to say thank you to our veterans and remember the many who have given their lives for our freedom.

Warmly,
Emanuel Cleaver, II
Member of Congress

^^Retard, thinks Cleaver reads this blog, & apparently thinks its Cleaver's fault if a veteran has to sleep on a bench.

  4. Byron, your brother and his beautiful wife were the best thing that ever happened to this town, why are you such a disappointment and a failure?

  6. Well said Cleave!

  7. He reads it in secret, as do most in local government. Keeping an eye on the would be usurpers to local bureaucrats because of misguided vanity projects and regulations is important in still another winter of discontent in K.C.

  8. It's not winter yet, chuck, but congrats on ignoring reality, and continue the bloviations.

  9. Cleaver and the rest of the fools in D.C. need to truly take care of our veterans. They say they care, but, in reality they don't properly fund the V.A., they don't fire the idiots who run the V.A. when they screw them up.

And what really makes my blood boil is that there all of these non-profits that have to raise money to help veterans because our government won't after all these brave men and women have served us so unselfishly.

So, if Cleaver and all his cronies really want to do something, step up, fund the V.A., get professionals in there to run each location, get more good doctors, nurses, physical and mental therapists and DO SOMETHING.....

It's disgusting that so many politicians only sing the praises of our vets when it's Veterans day or when some horrific event happens.....
