TKC MUST READ!!! DID SPAM PRODUCT REVIEWS FROM MAYOR SLY VIOLATE TERMS OF SERVICE??? TECHIES AND LOCALS REBUKE KANSAS CITY HQ2 GIMMICK!!!
As Kansas City Mayor Sly James transitions into a lame duck public official, his publicity stunts and public persona are quickly beginning to fade . . .
Because nobody in Kansas City is reporting it . . .
THE TECH COMMUNITY MOCKS MAYOR SLY JAMES AND HIS HOMESPUN PUBLICITY STUNT WHICH EXPLOITED THE BIG "FAKE REVIEW" PROBLEM CONFRONTING AMAZON!!!
ZDNET: Kansas City mayor spams Amazon reviews in bid for headquarters
Money line . . .
"Nothing smells of desperation more than spamming Amazon with thousands of potentially "fake" reviews . . .
"Naturally, each review -- listed on its own domain as well as Amazon -- mentions Kansas City, and it's hard not to poke fun at this interesting tactic.
"Each product is going to charity, but you have to wonder whether the reviews would be considered "fake" or not, which breaks Amazon's terms of service.
"That's not to suggest the mayor hasn't enjoyed his dog biscuits, cat pans, or Disney's Frozen dress, but it doesn't necessarily help the problem of shady reviews on the website at all, nor does it set an example as reviews fly in thick and fast from one person in a very short space of time."
And then in news closer to home . . .
KANSAS CITY RESIDENTS GROW FRUSTRATED WITH MAYOR SLY'S DEVELOPMENT AGENDA DOMINATING CITY HALL WHILST NEIGHBORHOODS REMAIN NEGLECTED!!!
Here's the word from a KICK-ASS TKC READER that perfectly sums up a great deal of local sentiment . . .
"Instead of trying to lure amazon here with silly gimmicks, the mayor of Kansas City should be trying to put our house in order, stopping the killings, stopping the water main breaks, and stopping businesses from fleeing west on the Santa Fe trail! It's time for real leadership.
"This city needs to wake up, listen to the people it serves, and stop trying to be the best dressed guest at a society wedding it has no business attending."
All things considered, Kansas City Mayor Sly has been an enthusiastic salesman for this town but his latest effort relied on a PR gimmick that has been universally rejected.
