TKC FACT CHECK!!! KANSAS CITY NEW AIRPORT PROPOSAL WILL WIN IN NOVEMBER WITHOUT ORGANIZED OPPOSITION!!!

The campaign for a new Kansas City airport is underway and tax fighters are up against increasingly bad odds as mainstream media is inundated with promises and hype from supporters.

Accordingly . . .

LIKE IT OR NOT, WITHOUT CASH FOR A REAL OPPOSITION CAMPAIGN, THE KANSAS CITY NEW AIRPORT SUPPORTERS WILL WIN THE NOVEMBER VOTE!!!

This a fact of life that "social media" chatter alone can't overcome.

Votes in Kansas City are decided before any ballots are cast and the only hope to escape yet another election purchased by big money #NewKCI supporters is to mount some kind of REAL political campaign against them.

Like it or not, as a media onslaught is underway, opponents will have a tough time winning without a spokesperson, a campaign office, yard signs and even a few TV ads.

At the very least they need a website and social media presence . . .

Here's a bit more explanation . . .

Grassroots Airport Critics Are AWESOME But They Need Help . . .

Right now the opposition is  homespun and using Web 1.0 tech to get their message out there . . .

The latest example:

"Below is a flyer you can reprint as a handout, email it to your friends. It is also on our Facebook page so you can share it. We need your help to distribute. We will have several flyers and we need your help to dispense. We do not have the funds to do expensive mailers. Thank you for your help."

They're doing their best and deserve high praise for their efforts but pro-airport campaign cash sent to an army of "activists" to get out the vote is a lot more convincing. GOTV cash and the promise of return favors is the way that most KCMO votes have been won since the roaring 20s.

NEW AIRPORT SUPPORTERS HAVE RAISED $500K AND COUNTING!!!

Our blog community was FIRST to show big corporations from throughout the Greater KC area donating A LOT of cash to the new airport campaign. Since that time, nearly a quarter mil more has come in . . . And again, like it or not, that money will buy a lot of votes.

Amazon Demands New Airport For HQ2 & City Hall Is Exploiting Hope Of New Jobs

Just a bit of followup on KCMO spam . . . Amazon HQ2 needs a shiny new airport for their operation and local politicos are using this demand as part of their sales pitch -- It's a horrifically cynical move which promises Kansas City voters around 50K jobs that will never arrive.

And so . . .

There's a bit of good news in all of this despite insider FAKE NEWS that polling is 50/50  . . .

The idea of tearing down the old airport is EXTREMELY UNPOPULAR IN KANSAS CITY and opposition won't have to match the cash of new airport supporters in order to stay competitive.

Quick TKC punchline . . . They might build the thing no matter what voters decide in much the same way that the streetcar toy train keep moving forward despite a recent NO VOTE blocking the current expansion effort.

Still, make no mistake, an army of consultants, the mayor and so many corrupt newsies are pushing this idea on the voting public. Without at least a modicum of opposition campaign organization to counteract so much hype, a bad idea MIGHT very well win.

You decide . . .

  1. One of the best reasons to vote NO is to watch these geniuses burn 500,000 worth of their own money.

    1. People have to put pressure on the media here. When they take to the pro-airport people, they need to include an opposing voice. Even if it's not a spokesman, it should be SOMEBODY!

    2. Can we have a moratorium on yard signs? Those things are always a waste.

      Delete
  2. You might be overestimating how much the money can buy. A lot of that will be wasted on people who don't have much influence either way. I agree that airport opponents need to get their message out but the idea is so bad, it might speak for itself and scare any reasonable voter away.

  3. Already bought and paid for. Freedom on board, Democrats on board, Labor on board, Chamber on board and all the slithery behind the scenes grafters have all been promised their share.

Sh why don't you worry about a yard sign 7:59 while they jerk your panties off in bond debt, cost overrides for more of your tax dollars, higher airport fees and increased taxes so support this High Plains scam of the ages. Oh wait what about a yard sign

Mutha fucka some people make yer head wanna explode.

  5. Hey, CFRG and others, maybe put some tacky clownish suits and bowties on, grab some bullhorns and protest signs, take to the streets and bridges, then make nuisances of yourselves blocking roads, bridges, and sidewalks.
Yeah, Democrim run Killa City is used to bully bullhorns and SJWs who: Shout It Out, March All About, Wave Some Signs, Then Leave Filth and Litter Behind.

  6. CFRG has some good truthful information on their facebook pages. CFRG and Friends of
KCI. They also make great points when invited to speak publicly! Problem is most groups are afraid to invite them because it might piss off the mayor.

  7. Tony, I know you haven't managed 40 campaign like I have. A few pointers:
Just like football: folks want to vote for the winning side of a ballot issue. Your headline infers that NO is the losing side.

Folks do not give money to a losing campaign.
So your approach is hurting any possibility of meaningful or timely fundraising.

Despite the fact that secret polling must show the issue is is big trouble, or the City/Chamber/Labor would NOT be raising and spending this money to pass it!

(Freedom doesn't RAISe money, they just have their hand out for every election.)
Dan Coffey /CFRG and his girlfriend, Sherry deJanes/SaveKCI.org, are nice well-meaning folk. But, once again, look at their work product! Totally incompetent. The link for their flier does not OPEN! So how might one download it or share it?? To quote KC's greatest politico, the very late Jerry Jette, "They are a submarine rigged for silent running."

Hence, the news media, which is kinda required to get spokespersons from BOTH sides of an issue, is desperate to find another set of Bobsey Twins for the 10 second sound bites.

This campaign is as pathetic as when Sly James ran against The jerry-curled Captain bedazzled with fake medals--the homeless dude with no phone--after Clay Chastain lost in the primary. Poor Micheal Mahoney--or Nick Haines or Scott Parks or Mark Alford--who they gonna call? Truth busters??

Amazon is as likely to select KCMO as Harvey Weinstein is likely to hit on Dianne Feinstein or Ruth Bader Ginzberg. That's not why folks who are misled will vote yes.

I HAVE heard a rumor that Edgemoor is being asked/demanded to contribute to the YES campaign. Even tho they have no contract! That of course would be either extortion--or an ethics violation. Or perhaps both. Could even lead to a yes vote being challenged in the courts and overturned.

Pursue that!! Now THAT is good news!!! With Glorioso dead, and Jeff Roe completely emasculated since he cost Ted Cruz the Presidential primary when he lied in the Iowa primary, who's the fixer running the YES campaign?

Meanwhile, if you really want to be helpful, Tony--change your headline. eg to Rigged Election for Tearing Down KCI is Desperate: Holding Uncontracted Builder Hostage--Looking for Ransom to Finance Bamboozle Campaign.

Or: Secret Polling Indicates YES on KCI is in Big Trouble! The suits and labor goons would not spend a dime if this election was a shoe-in...

  12. Meanwhile that new downtown hotel is getting built without a financial plan, I was told by city staff that bond money was taking care of it. sLIE is sneaking this in backdoor using the airport as a distraction. Tony check it out please

  13. Tracy, Jeff Roe continues to prevaricate and manipulate Northland politics with his poison. His gang of pirates, liars and thieves nearly defeated the Clay Children's Services tax with exaggerations and half-truths.

The General was a flawed candidate; but he was the product of several forces that have evolved over the past 25-30 years. Among the worst was the toxic corrupt mix of business and labor support to elect a puppet like Sly James. The General performed a valuable service to the metro area that would make Erin Brockovich proud.

  15. Tony, you have spam at 11:05.

And I just received an email from Dan Coffey where his flier does open, but he lists the wrong name of his own organization!

    Here's what I wrote him:
    Jesus, Dan.

These open, but now the headline on each of them is Citizens for Responsible CITIZENS!
    (RATHER THAN GOVT.)

    Also,
put your copy in a serif font.
and don't center it like it's an invitation.

  20. Like many people, I order many items from Amazon. Convenient and competitive pricing. However, locating in KC would likely add almost 10% to my purchases. So after KC gives away the store with TIF and other considerations (some probably under the table), residents will likely be screwed to make up the difference, as well as the heavy local sales tax. Jus sayin'

  22. Government trying to get people not to vote is the story. They are hiding Sly as public wasn't buying his bs. For now they want a quiet low energy vote and to privately call out their own troops of corporate pawns. The anger at the fixes is muted as the attention span of the public has trouble staying with the issue.
