TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! HOLLYWOOD SEXUAL HARASSMENT CRISIS INSPIRES LOCAL BARRAGE OF ANONYMOUS SOCIAL MEDIA #METOO ACCUSATIONS AGAINST PROMINENT KANSAS CITY MEN!!!
Media controversy over accusations of rape and harassment have finally started to hit home in Kansas City. However, our cheap cowtown mainstream media mimicry doesn't feature confessional interviews on the record but merely a great deal of social media hateration.
To wit . . .
CHECK THIS BLIND-ITEM ROUND-UP OF LOCAL DUDES BEING TARGETED WITH SEXUAL HARASSMENT CLAIMS!!!
There are NO NAMES AND NO BAD GUESSES with this list to protect the innocent, guilty and just plain stupid . . . And all conjecture in the comments is just more of the same irresponsible Internets trolling.
And so, here's the shortlist of local dude suspect being called out . . .
- A Crossroads Bar owner has been accused of impropriety on FB, Twitter and throughout social media.
- On Black Twitter, talk of an East Side "open secret" against an anti-crime activist and former politico has resurfaced like it does before every election season . . . And then never goes anywhere.
- A socialite writer and photog has been hounded by his accusers and lost some pretty great writing gigs but there is no court case filed against the dude to date and prosecutors haven't decided to follow-up on any of the claims.
Let's not overlook the fact that rape, sexual assault and even harassment is a horrible crime and a serious charge against a dude . . . Remember not so long ago Downtown pizza dude creeper Dennis A. Skeen was accused of serving up a roofie colada to some poor woman and trying to take advantage of her. He entered a guilty plea but then killed himself with a nail gun rather than face his victim in court on the day of the sentencing.
And so . . .
The bottom line here is that while we respect the claims and hotness of Hollywood actresses sharing their stories of casting couch woe with the world, the low-rent Kansas City culture warrior manifestation of this trend is not only irresponsible but also unfair.
Legal talk for all the cowtown attorneys raging behind the scenes . . .
In the fight for a man's rights, let's not forget that suspects are all innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Additionally, the Confrontation Clause of the Sixth Amendment to the United States Constitution provides that "in all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to be confronted with the witnesses against him."
Are we grown up enough to realize that not every #MeToo claim is a conviction or even a valid indictment despite some very credible public testimony and great conversation about what decent men can do in order to support the rights of women.
And while so many Kansas City hardline partisans want to blame Prez Trump for everything wrong with the world, let's realize that this bit of "battle of the sexes" culture war identity politics has been ramped up by "Hillaristas" who are blaming their election defeat on sexism and systemic persecution of women (the hegemony and/or their dad) instead of one of the most unlikable candidates in modern American political history.
The bright side here is that Kansas City residents are skeptical of most political claims and online accusations are being met with really good questions and encouragement to come forward, tell stories publicly and let police and prosecutors do their job instead of just crying for Internets attention.
Thankfully, while the mob mentality might rule political discourse . . . Most Kansas City residents seem to believe that everyone is entitled an opportunity to defend themselves in the court of law rather than taking the word of the fickle and mostly fake court of public opinion or the social media echo chamber.
Brief aside . . . There hasn't been a woman who has visited the basement HQ of this blog for more than 20 years. Thankfully, those ladies haven't voiced any lingering complaints against TKC and seem happily married to far more faithful guys with steady jobs and prosaic worldviews. Fakebook informs all social media busybodies looking up college sweethearts that good insurance is far more rewarding than all of those 90s grunge power ballads which long ago provided car sex soundtracks. But I digress . . .
Back to the point of the current witch hunt that now threatens to target Kansas City dudes.
What we're seeing here is a preview of the 2018 midterm elections wherein so many politicos struggle to play the victim and earn a place of honor by way of mere ideological virtue and cultural affiliation rather than debate regarding real issues, accomplishments or policy.
