The Midtown Kansas City Old School

Westport's oldest settlers fiddled and danced at Little's Hall

A careful observer of things in Midtown, Diane Capps, noticed the lettering on a window at 313 Westport Road and noticed the name "Little's Hall" was embedded in the leaded glass. The first floor of the building is now used as an antique store, and the sign for a long-term tenant, the Broadway Hardware Company, is still there.

A Blue Springs man feels lucky to be alive after what he experienced in Independence on Sunday. Richard Sule is still shaken by what happened - and mad about the damage. But he's relieved no one got hurt. It started as a typical morning drive to work for Sule.

Zach Bauman Tuesday, October 10 Choose from two autumn-themed specialty dinners tonight. The first is a five-course cider dinner at Bluestem (900 Westport Road), featuring hard ciders from all over the world. An example of what's on offer: the fourth course features dry-aged duck with stewed apples, radicchio and garden beets, served with Bordatto Etxaldea, a cider from the Spanish Basque country.
