Kansas City's Main Street Transit Center To Close, Opening Possibility Of A Green Space Downtown

The congested bus transit center at 10th and Main is scheduled to be closed within two years, opening up space for a potential pocket park in the heart of downtown. The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority plans to relocate the 1/2-acre transit center, currently a hub for 15 bus routes, to a new, larger site in the East Village area at the southeast corner of 12th and Charlotte.

KC firefighters battle 2-alarm apartment fire Friday afternoon

NewsChopper 9 SOURCE: NewsChopper 9 Kansas City firefighters are battling a two-alarm apartment fire Friday afternoon. Fire crews were called about 3:20 p.m. to the 4000 block of Harvard Circle. Crews reported smoke showing when they arrived. Firefighters rescued at least two people. No injuries have been reported.

Ken Block, managing principal of Block Real Estate Services, has launched Renew KC Neighborhoods, a nonprofit that will help with home improvements in distressed parts of Kansas City's urban core. Titan Built LLC, a general contracting firm that has worked on many BRES developments, is partnering with the new nonprofit to provide some of the skilled labor needed to make the improvements.

Man gets 12-year term for robbing QB Mahomes

TYLER, Texas -- A Texas man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after being convicted of robbing Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and three others in May. Thirty-four-year-old Michael Blake Pinkerton was sentenced after pleading guilty Wednesday to a robbery charge.
