RAYTOWN RAGES AGAINST POLICE CUTS!!!

Impressive political pushback from this inner-suburb confronting rising crime. Checkit:

Raytown Aldermen push back vote on police budget cuts

RAYTOWN, Mo. -- It took four hours, but the Raytown Alderman who proposed giving the Board of Aldermen the ability to review the elected Police Chief's performance finally relented. It was just part of a contentious meeting where Raytown city leaders looked for ways to trim $3 million from its budget.

  2. There is an excuse, the city kept it's Wal Mart.

  3. @8:20, man, you're part of the problem. The PD is a bureaucracy just like any other department in the City. The police force should be maintained in direct relationship to the population or proportional to crime. That is seldom ever the case. Since the mid 90's when they realized how easy it was to fool people in to more taxes, police departments have increased 50% - 100% with populations increasing 0% - 10%. Same with crime rates, though I have not checked that specifically in Raytown.

People say the same thing when it comes school taxes, the all too common statement of: if it's for the children, it must be good. Schools tax at a rate of 10 times the next highest entity (typically the municipality). School districts, like other bureaucracies, grew at a much larger rate than their corresponding populations. It had nothing to do with additional students in the class room and everything to do with more administration. Most school districts administration employees outnumber teachers 2:1, my local is 2.5:1. That is a colossal waste of tax dollars.

Police Departments, Schools, and Fire Departments should not be considered untouchable on the pedestal of public service. There are reasons for budget cuts and budget increases as the needs, and budget, of the population changes. They should be held fiscally accountable to the voters.

  4. 9:48 you're stupid. Gather all your facts and study them before you go with long ass posts that not only prove nothing, they show how ignorant many people are. You're probably the first asshole who will scream like the bitch they are when you need police protection and nobody can arrive till maybe an hour later due to lack of officers on the street.

  5. ^^^ Did you have anything to say or you just flapping you gums ass hole?

  6. SEVENTEEN police officers, plus support personnel are going to lose their jobs. People, families with children.... Not to mention the negative impact on literally thousands of already beleaguered Raytown citizens that have had to deal with years of staggering ineptitude and indifference from City Hall and their elected "leaders".

Let's plop a stinking WalMart right smack in the middle of a rapidly declining area demographic with an already sky high crime rate. And hand them a key to Raytown's destiny in totality by issuing a ginormous, irrevocable TIF. Sounds like a plan.

Awesome. Raytown continues to be the decades-old, perennial KC area laughingstock thanks to the feckless, tiresome group that has consistently run Raytown into the ground for so many exhaustive years.

  7. 2:36 you are are dumb ass, and apparentley uneducated and could give a shit less about public saftey because they probabley did their job and you are a hater because they did. This issue in Raytown is serious, Its obvious that the leaders of Raytown do not understand priority period!! We never heard the Fire Department was in danger of losing their jobs, but hey the Fire Fighter Union NAFF is why most city budgets struggle the most. The fire service does save lives and can be a important part of any emergency situation, but if I had to choose between fire sucking and draining the budget in most cities, I would choose a gun to protect me over a hose!!

  8. @2:36 PM Do you realize how phuckin crazy and retarded you sound. Less po po more black on black crime and even more Black on Black crime. Are you some frustrated arsonist or are you some illegitimate kid of a Fireman.

You need to learn how the Raytown Fire Protection District is funded before you pen anymo ignant shit white boy.

And take a break pour your self a steaming hot brimmin' full cup of
    SHUT DA FUCK UP.

  9. 3:15 I know how powerful the IAFF is, and with that said you can shut the fuck up!! Why the hell would you cut the police before you would cut fire, the police always get the bad wrap and fire always get the hero propaganda BS, and all because of the ALMIGHTY IAFF!! If only the public knew the truth!! Fuck you hose draggers!! but more importantly fuck the Raytown City Leaders who suck fire cock!

  10. 3:15 if the funding works for the RFPD ( However its funded), why hasnt the city used that same successful model for the PD? Oh shit a solution might have just been born you stupid fuck!!!

  11. This is a Raytown problem related to their own shitty mismanagement. Let them sink or swim. Fuck getting excited over this shithole town and their boss hog political fuck ups.

  12. We're relieved to hear a rumor that this may be the last term for "The Chief".

    A suggestion?

"The Chief" should accept a pay cut in solidarity with the affected officers and support personnel. He should be required to turn in his showboat police Dodge immediately, and instead drill a few holes for radio equipment in the walnut dash of his personal high end vehicle, and request reasonable, scrupulously audited per diem from the City.

And congratulations on your September 2017 purchase of your new 250+K residence, "Chief".

Thirty people, maybe more, are going to lose their jobs because of this. 30!!!!

  13. It's funny the Raytown PD can blame the cuts to be made on a Walmart and lay claim to a nonsensical fantasy number of 500 shoplifters in a year, yet make no mention that they actually have the money to keep the jobs of the officers who stand to lose their jobs. If "The Chief" can afford to buy a new $250,000 home then there's no telling how much greed other cops are partaking in. Most Raytown citizens can't even afford such a house and probably work a salary less than a small town Chief is supposed to be making.
Personally I would take an exaggerated 500 shoplifters at a rundown P.O.S. Walmart over all the murders in Kansas City anyday. But the real issues are the greed and lies of Raytown PD and its Mayor who have been running this good ole boy robbery system for far too long. How can police officers clock in over $40,000 a year in overtime alone and buy $250,000 homes and complain they need MORE money for MORE police? Maybe some of you whiners believing their tirade of bullshit on social media should look at their budgeting. Newsflash folks, it's FREE to public viewing!!!!

    1. You'll also wonder where the money went when cops average 60 grand a year plus 40 grand in overtime. Oops I forgot it is none of our business where our tax dollars go. Lets just focus on Walmart lol

  15. Methinks that that house set the Chief back a little more than a quarter mil, but in thinking about it, perhaps he inherited some money or has money saved back from decades of being a productive citizen. And really, it isn't any of our business. But you gotta admit...the timing was precious.

  16. Raytown has a very small, notoriously cliquish group where members tend to get elected and manage to stay put in one form or another. (Even when they move out of the city.) A couple of these people that currently in office were elected to some degree (for lack of a better term at the moment) due to heritage-based sentiment or ran completely unopposed, without being sufficiently qualified for their elected positions, in our opinion. Apathy more than likely also paved the way for them, recombinant with a lack of more substantively-qualified candidates to oppose them.
