Number of banks and branches in KC area hits 10-year low - Kansas City Business Journal

The number of individual bank brands and branch offices in the Kansas City metro hit a 10-year low this past year. The Kansas City market was host to 126 different bank brands as of June 30, according to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.'s annual Deposit Market Share Report.

    Looks like it's taken a decade for all the deadwood to get shaken out back here in the financial backwaters.
