KANSAS CITY TOY TRAIN STREETCAR AUDITIONS LOCAL MUSICIANS!!!

Ridership numbers for the Kansas City's downtown toy train are steadily declining from last year according to the latest figures release from the Kansas City Streetcar Authority.

During the cold weather holiday season, those numbers sharply plummeted last year and this time around the decline could be even worse . . .

And so . . .

The toy train is recruiting locals musicians to bring a bit of holiday cheer . . . Because singing aboard the streetcar is a novelty for tourists whereas most people who ride the bus simply listen to their headphones and try to imagine owning a car.

If there was ever confirmation that the toy train is simply a tourist novelty THIS IS IT . . . Meanwhile, KCMO continues to spend cash for this gimmick. Here it is along with all the info on tryouts . . .

  1. How much is KC going to spend on this?

Will the streetcar authority report those figures?

They are very secretive about their actions and I'm not sure this is the best use of public resources.

They would be wise to take that money and spend it on cleaning. The streetcar gets filthy during the weekends when it gets most of its riders. They really need better janitorial service.

    2. Touristy Frou Frou plain and simple, even Republicans have to agree with Rep. Cleaver on that.

  2. Keep the consultants working on Friday night. They don't deserve a night off when their only job is to come up with this kind of garbage and spam the Internet.

  4. GROW UP PEOPLE!

This is a great idea. KC needs to welcome our visitors and this is a great way to get more people involved.

A lot of you don't know this but there is regularly singing aboard the streetcar on the weekends because people are excited about the new downtown and our amenities. This is just building off that, just another way to push KC forward!

  8. Often a downhill slope is enough to keep pushing things forward while the wheels are coming off the wagon.

  10. Tell me about your life Mildred. Have you traveled?

Yes we left town once and visited Kansas City. Just a couple hours northeast. Trip of a lifetime. They have a streetcar. Has to be the biggest city on earth, and we ain't ever seen nothing like it.

  11. OMG mom I just got my big break here in KC!

Oh you got that recording contract you told me you were going to get?

It's big mom. Hey, can you send me some more money until my advance money comes in. A credit card would be great.

  12. Trying to be something might actually get you there.
Trying too hard, like KCMO desperately does on a regular basis, to make believe it's a big big vibrant urban metropolis, is sad and embarrassing.
If you're from out-of-town and read all the hype, when you actually stood at 10th and main and looked around you'd say, Where is everything?"
A taxpayer-funded amusement park for millenials, hipsters, wannabe sophisticates, and rubes from Cowpie, Kansas.
If you can make it here, you'll make it anywhere!!
Please tell me Sly isn't going to dress up as the New York City Naked Cowboy!

  13. IF and WHEN I ever take public transit anywhere I certainly DONT want to listen to some street corner musician making noise in my space. What part of give me the service you advertise ONLY....nothing else. Take me from point A to point B and if I want to hear music I will turn on my phone. Can you just imagine a plane load of folks having to listen to bad music from KC to any other destination? Exactly, no difference. Just give me the transportation service and allow me to decide whether I want anything else.

  14. That's what I want to see on a streetcar, a wigger in dreadlocks strummin on the ol'banjo. Fe Fi fiddly I Oh strummin on the ol'banjo Blahahahahaha

  15. I was out in Vegas a couple months back and they have street musicians every 50 feet it was annoying as anything, most of them weren't very good at all except for a violin player. I regret not giving him some money for actually playing something a person can listen to.

KC is trying way to hard to be liked and spending tax payer dollars this to boot.

  16. As if the world wasn't noisy enough, we now have someone hollering at us in a very small space. Will he be heard above the folks talking to themselves? Will the audience appreciate the music selection and style? Will someone whip out a baseball bat and start clobbering the guy? Tune in later for more developments.

  18. After watching 59 episodes of that Harrahs singling competition on TV a few years ago I hope the hell they make singing on public transit a felony.

  19. If this was New York they'd kick the musician off the subway. This is a stupid idea to annoy people with bad music.
