Kansas City Toy Train Streetcar Leadership Vote Saturday

The fun part here is that there are three candidates who don't really like this mode of transit. Pick your fave in this low rent and mostly secret vote . . .

Next streetcar expansion vote set for Saturday - Kansas City Business Journal

Kansas City voters will be able to weigh in on the next step of the streetcar expansion process on Saturday. The election will appoint a board to manage the transportation development district (TDD) voters approved in August, the first step to extending the Kansas City streetcar south to the University of Missouri-Kansas City's Volker Campus.

  2. Did I miss something? I read the story, but it never said three were not in favor of the streetcar. There are 19 nominees. CFRG and Sheree deJanes are endorsing four now, not three. But they didn't nominate them. David Johnson the tzar of the trolley orchestrated his big slate.

CFRG and Sherry just conceded that one might as well vote for folks who are not corporate shills, or God forbid, Cindy Circo, = c squared. So they picked the most reasonable, to them. Then, I learned that on Union Hill, their HOA has a different slate of 7 they are supporting.

Whatever--hopefully whoever is elected will work to avoid the huge mistakes of Streetcar zone 1, including wiping out all the free parking in the River Market, because that is hogged by downtown workers (probably from Joco!!!) parking on the street and riding the trolley half a mile to their cubicles downtown. So now there are two hour meters in the River Market, which is a big mess.

Then there's a third election in November, to determine the property tax hikes and the TDD special assessments. But that's Pin the Tail on the Donkey, because despite the most recent vote that demanded they apply for federal funds, they will have no answers. So guess what. They will pin that tail very high, to cover unknown costs, pretending and promising, "oh, if we end up with a surplus we will lower taxes in the future."

Right. And if you believe that, then recall when Carol Coe and Emanuel Cleaver promised taxpayers that $22 million was ALL that would ever be needed to build a world class jazz district at 18th & Vine. $130 million later...

  4. Anonymous is still a coward, we all see.
(He uses his cell phone because his tiny hands can't reach the A, Q AND Z keys on a laptop.)

Look, schmuck: stay on topic. That's what an open blog is for, not shaming and bullying. Address the issues. If you don't agree with the facts I have stated, then write about that. Contribute SOME THOUGHT TO THIS DIALOGUE. Then sign your work. Or if you are Cindy Circo or David Johnson, make up some nom de plume that at least is artful or clever. And if you are Chris Hernandez, posting from City Hall, on the taxpayer's dime, from the private bathroom in the Mayor's office, you can go home now. Before dark.

And before the thunderstorms flood the tracks and you once again have to shut down the Toy Taxpayer-Draining Train. Or it hits someone.

Ha, some day, Tony's site will be hacked and all you anonymous cowards will be outed.

  6. Well I'm going to remain anonymous, But I don't think Tracy is off her meds, she has a point and a very truthful point!

And to the off her meds person...if that is all you can say with no intelligent comment to prove your point, then you must know Tracy is right too.
