New tech is nice . . . We love new tech . . . But this effort is still in the experimental phase, with no real proof that it works YET IT'S ASKING FOR HARD CASH that would probably be better spent on better bus service. You decide:
Coalition seeks $1.5 million to further study Hyperloop in Missouri - St. Louis Business Journal
The St. Louis to Kansas City Hyperloop route is getting new life thanks to a new group known as the Missouri Hyperloop Coalition. The Coalition - made up of the Missouri Department of Transportation (MODOT), the St.
Yep, experimental, but who the hell is going to ride a bus to and from STL?
ReplyDeleteMissouri doesn't have the money, expertise, or even interest to even adequately maintain I-70.
ReplyDeleteWho's going to head up this high-tech "must have" effort?
Another guy from CowPie, Kansas, like the KCMO streetcar?
California? Maybe.
Missouri? Not a chance.
The actual time in the air for a plane to St Louis is only about a half hour. The rest of the time it takes to fly is standing in lines. How will this be any better?
ReplyDeleteWho wants to go to Stl? Not me
ReplyDeleteit's a great idea to have a plan shovel-ready for when the infrastructure funds become available.
ReplyDeletemight be a couple of years, but it's still good to get ready.
usa used to dream big dreams. we should again. they help transcend differences and unite people on a bigger vision.
^^^ Or it may be ready never.
ReplyDeleteThey still need that money NOW!
Odd, it appears the post from yesterday, that the hyper-loop was going to serve 5million Missouri users has disappeared? I was going to repost that the pop. of the State is only 6mil, and the two major metro areas and one large City the 'loop would serve (KCMO, CoMO, STL) only have a population of 1.5-2 mil combined, including the 'burbs. Of that entire population, I'd wager only 30 - 40% are commuters. And of those commuters probably a much smaller fraction drive the KCMO-CoMo-STL route in any given day. So, in the end, this would be a large intrastate toy train. Hey MoDOT, you're CONSTANTLY whining about needing more tax dollars, why don't you not waste them on this tripe?
ReplyDeleteYou can travel anywhere, anytime, with Virtual Reality goggles. It's a lot cheaper and cleaner than this thing.
ReplyDeleteIf this ever comes about (highly unlikely), and if MODOT's involved you can count on two things for sure...
ReplyDeleteIt'll cost at least three times the "proposed" total, and...
it'll have lots of those F***ing "Diverging Diamonds"!
^^^nice. Divergent diamonds are the cool trendy thing these days. Quickly replacing the euro-trash trendy roundabouts.
ReplyDeleteMan HYPEr Loop is the right name for this crap!
