TKC PRO TIP: NEVER PAY TO READ THE KANSAS CITY STAR AGAIN!!!

One of our best, brightest and MOST KICK-ASS readers sends us just a bit of advice on the topic of online freebies in the era of digital content . . .

Checkit:

"If you have a library card, you can look at the KC Star in PDF page format through their elibrary - free."

This is a good for the denizens of JoCo who are looking for a bargain -- And let's face it, those middle-class denizens didn't get rich by writing checks. Still, it's easy for ANYBODY to apply for a JoCo card and beats paying hundreds for the a subscription . . . Just a fun fact for the new Vice Prez of "digital revenue" (LOL!) the Star just hired rather than paying more reporters or columnists who don't hate the flag.

You decide . . .

  1. really, canceling altogether is going to spread.

people aren't going to bother with a library card backdoor.

that's terrible for democracy but it's happening. very sad.

  2. Star Sunday edition is ONE dollar at select Kansas DOLLAR TREE Stores. Gotta get there within an hour to an hour and a half, or ya snooze and looze to the sales ad scouters and coupons clippers. There's often several dollars worth of coupons I make use of nearly every week. I actually read about a third of the content. I see more than a few buy the $1 Sunday, remove ads and coupons, then drop the remainder into the recycle box by the store's front door. I've shopped later in that week and the big cardboard boxes are FULL of discarded Stars.

  5. The Star isnt liberal enough. It's that sell out centrist stuff that just benefits a few and screws the rest. Ttrump is horrible but so would have been 4 more years of sell pur Clintonism.

  11. To little to late it's a revolving door with marketing people at the star. When they were A GREAT PAPER they had a million reader a week and that was hard copy They keep downsizing the paper. They still have a good sports section that may be keeping some readers. The GLORY DAYS ARE OVER FOR THE STAR.

  12. I downloaded the app sometime ago and havent paid a penny in years. I guess they will figure out a loophole exists one of these days- and when they do I will pay them... the greatest insult available by never reading them again- and mary s. will continue to insult all conservatives and drain readership... as the needle continues to point to bankruptcy...
