RAYTOWN STAYS LOSING POLICE!!!

Cops cut as metro crime ticks upward. Take look:

Raytown Police to eliminate 30 positions starting Nov. 1, including 17 officers

In an open letter to the citizens of Raytown, Police Chief Jim Lynch said looming budget cuts will force him to eliminate 30 staff-members - including 17 full-time officers. In the letter, Chief Lynch stated the department's upcoming budget would be cut by just over $3 Million.

  1. How about they get rid of the Chief and anyone involved in that budget nightmare. The people of Raytown will now be victimized over greed from those running their city.

  3. If any town in the Western Hemisphere could least afford less police it is hands down Raymone Town....World famous home of Funkytown or better know by most in the area as Niggeritaville. All pepper no salt for its their own damn fault.

  5. It's almost like these cities want to commit suicide. Not a smart move! You folks in Raytown should move now before it's to late, because your city will go down, and so will your property values, and they are low now.

  6. Jackson County Sheriff's Department will pick up the slack. And be aware of your surroundings. If the bad guys are coming after you. You get them first. Make them wish the cops would have caught them first.

  8. I'll proffer this, it sounds like the PD grew much larger than the tax base that supported it, and now they're reducing size correspondingly. Without giving away too much info, my town of 10,000 has had a roughly static population for the last 25 - 30 years. In the mid 90's we had enough dispatchers and officers to maintain 24/7 police coverage, about 15 - 20. As with all government bureaucracies, our PD absolutely ballooned to nearly 45 employees. There was no increase in population, no increase in crime, no change in demographics. It is a bureaucracy that exists to feed itself. Citizens voted down all tax increases for the PD over the years so the corrupt council changed budget line items and finagled more money to the PD then asked for "other" tax increases. It really sounds, especially after writing my thoughts, that this is most likely what happened here.
