Kansas City #TBT: Vietnam & Protest Legacy

The tradition of social justice fighting goes back a long way in this cowtown.

Description of this old school documentary montage for our late night denizens and shift work watchers . . .

"Marches and protests against the Vietnam War began as early as 1965 in the Kansas City region and continued for the following decade. Antiwar activities were not just limited to local college campuses like the University of Kansas and University of Missouri - Kansas City, but also arose in the parks and streets of our metro. Vietnam Veterans Against the War and other groups organized vigils, marches and demonstrations in their fight for peace."

  2. Yeah, and when the Communists took over the whole country of Vietnam and killes Hundreds of Thousands and put Hundreds of Thousands more in "reducation" camps, did they protest that?

Commie murderers would do the same here is they got control.

  3. They spit on us, their war fighters and defenders of democracy and freedom when we came home. And somehow the left wants to glorify the cowards, commies and kooks.

Nobody ever spit on a veteran when they came home. That's a myth. Never happened.

  5. 8:53 I don't know if they were spit on but they were not welcomed back like today's soldiers. I was lucky to be a couple of years too young but I saw those returning vets and it took years before they were given the credit they deserved. Viet Nam was a mess, the war was a mess but these vets did what their country asked and should be honored for that.

The lib protester's were pussy's. They werent brave soldier's, like Ted Nugent. And Donald Trump. And Dick Chainy. They served, with distinction in Viet nam. And got meddals for there vallor. Rush was a marine soldier, who foght at quang Tree. And got the bronze star. There the real hero's. Not the libby protestor's.

  8. ^ yeah, that's right! They didn't serve with distinction like John Kerry! Or protest because of their high moral principles, like Bill Ayres and Bernadette Dorn!
