Dead-Tree Notices Gentrification

Are downtown KC's rents pricing out too much of the middle class?

Two years ago, West Coast transplants Lisa and Farzad Alemi found their dream apartment in downtown Kansas City. At around 1,100 square feet, the couple's two-bedroom penthouse at One Light Luxury Apartments isn't big, but its views are huge: floor-to-ceiling windows overlook Crown Center, the Crossroads Arts District and the Bartle Hall Pylons.

    1. I'm sure they are short handed like every other police department in America. Apparently no one wants to be a cop anymore. I wonder why.

  4. I've been hearing some Buzz about then developing muti-family Section 8 housing out on State Line south. I think it's a good idea

  5. NO SMOKING?

If they keep this sort of shit up, being in Prison is going to turn into an unpleasant experience!

Where will our Urban Youth go then to learn job skills and experience intimate social interactions?

  6. The report that middle income people are being priced out of downtown apartments shows just how upside-down and fake the city's "philosophy" about development and progress are.
Here's Sly giving speeches supporting the $15/hour minimum wage and railing about income inequality as though he's some nation figure.
Yet the same regular folks he claims to support aren't able to afford to live in the buildings that are almost all heavily subsidized by those same taxpayers.
And even though the report is that there is 97% occupancy, the subsidies continue unabated.
And beneficiary of all these goodies is none other than Cordish, a Baltimore corporation which already gets a nice $15 million/year bond payment for its P&L District.
    All completely phony.

  7. You have a point, Sly James is "I think" mentally unstable." He has really taken the city down, even the art fair was a huge flop, not many people at all.

Sly James can't tell the truth and his family can't either, his daughter is a huge liar too, I think it's something they need to boost their self esteem.

  8. Woman shot in PV "On Sunday at about 1:50 a.m." in "area of".

That isn't news, it's gossip. Was she at home? Was she in her car? Was she at a business, an ATM, on the street at a light or stop sign?

Come on news people. Try a little.

  9. 8:54, they're already trying as little as possible.
