The Silicone Prairie is already claiming victory and engaging in a bit of chest thumping in order to secure the scraps from this tech giant of cheap Chinese merch. Checkit:

Leaders say Kansas City is prime for Amazon HQ2

In the wake of news Amazon announced Thursday it plans to invest more than $5 billion in a new headquarters that could create as many as 50,000 jobs in which staffers would make $100,000 or more.Already, Kansas City Mayor Sly James, Kansas City Manager Troy Schulte, the Economic Development Corporation Kansas City, KC Tech Council and Kansas City Area Development Council are working together on a proposal, with the KCADC serving as the primary point of contact.

  2. 9:13 YOU are right. And Amazon will burn them out They will have a high turn over after they take out taxes. It will be seven dollars an hour. When they can't make there car payment rent utilities .putting gas in there car feeding there kid's Take a look around it takes money to live. And with Amazon you have to milti,task. Productive people should be paid more. .

  3. Sly is unlikely to have the chops to wow Amazon. Amazon thinks like a brilliant tech company not a lawyer orgy fracking it til they make it. Amazon spent more on research and development than any US company- to the tune of around 16 billion dollars. This is not a warehouse distribution center but is a second headquarters and major strategic presence. A panel of Cerner, Sprint, Garmin should shape our response not Sly and Reardon, please!
