Standoff underway at a Kansas City Dollar Tree location

Negotiators with the Kansas City Police Department are working the scene of a standoff at an area Dollar Tree. Police said officers were called the area near 89th and Wornall around 5:30 p.m. to investigate a disturbance. Witnesses on scene asked police to investigate an emotionally disturbed person who may have been armed.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Brandon Cooper was in the Jackson County Detention Center for DUI and drug possession when he was allegedly attacked by eight other inmates. Cooper says he, "Got hit in the back of the head. I turned around. I squared up because I didn't know what was going on.

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - An Independence man is in jail for reportedly stabbing another man after an argument over birthday cake. Ruben Medina, 57, is charged with armed criminal action and first-degree domestic assault. Court documents say the incident happened Tuesday afternoon in the 2200 block of S. James Downey Rd.

A female jogger who was attacked and grabbed by a stranger on the Indian Creek Trail Tuesday night is opening up about her experience. Stephanie Steiniger said night was falling when a man approached her near 119th and Quivira. She says he asked her for the time, and as she looked down, he grabbed her wrist.
