Kansas City Insiders Confront MCI Security Questions After Decomposed Body Discovered

This week safety concerns also confront Council on the topic of the airport. Here's our favorite blog covering the topic:

Dead man sat in truck for 8 months in airport parking lot before someone found him

A dead body sat in a pickup truck for eight months in a parking lot at the Kansas City International Airport before someone discovered it. 53-year-old Randy Potter disappeared January 17, and had parked at the airport that same day.

  3. The editorial in the KC STAR was titled "Why didn't Lenexa Police search KCI parking lot?".

The answer is simple. For the same reason that they didn't search the Wichita or St. Louis or Chicago or New York or Los Angeles airport parking lots: They are not in their jurisdiction. An APB was sent to KCPD (including KCI Police) about the missing person and expected those jurisdictions to be on the look out for him and /or his truck.

Lenexa Police do an excellent job of policing Lenexa. KCPD doesn't do such a good job of policing KCMO/KCI.

  5. 8:30 wins. KCI Police really dropped the ball. Nobody checked the car/truck for 8 months??????

  7. I don't know why this is but airport parking lots are notorious for vehicle abandonment stories.

I remember several years back a case of a car that went missing in Minneapolis. What made this car special was the more than one million dollars in hundred dollar bills that the cops knew was likely in the car. It was found 18 months after it went missing with 18 months with of dust and grime covering it. No one ever tried it. Eventually, a parking lot flunky noticed it and called the cops.

  14. I agree that Airport Management needs to be fired immediately, but not because the KCPD or KCI Security didn't find this poor guy.

They need to be fired because the firm THEY CHOSE to handle Airport Parking Control dropped the ball! As part of the ongoing campaign to destroy the existing Airport through neglect, they farmed out their responsibilities to what has proved to be a pack of incompetents! I'm sure there is paperwork proving that they placed this contract with the "lowest bidder"(highest briber?}, but they obviously failed to verify the performance of the firm that they dumped THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES onto!

FIRE THEM! AND IF THE CITY MANAGER WON'T DO THAT, THEN FIRE HIM!

OH, AND VOTE NO IN NOVEMBER,
DON'T LET THIS PACK OF BUTTHEADS ANYWHERE NEAR A BILLION DOLLARS!
