Kansas City Google Fiber Future???

Pitch pouting because the Internets ruined their biz model . . . Here's a local hipster follow-up on an article Vice Mag did earlier in the week:

Google Fiber does not currently have good answers about its future in Kansas City

Motherboard, the tech channel of Vice, published a story yesterday taking a look at how Google's attempt to bring fiber-based internet service to Kansas City has fared, five years after its launch. Short answer: not great! As the story notes, two CEOs overseeing Google Fiber have come and gone in the last year, and layoffs are underway.

  2. You expect dumb ass dreamers to bite on the dangling carrot, but when a whole local government buys into the bullshit you have to ponder the qualifications of some of these brilliant folks. The funny part is how easy it was for Google to use words like "innovation" and "increase in your home values" to seduce the whole damn local population while not a single promise was put in contract form before we handed them the keys to the counties.

Happy Time-Warner and Comcast morons. Those companies were so sure Google was full of shit they created a huge national wireless infrastructure while you folks sat on the phone to your relatives talking shit about how you were about to get that super cheap and fast Google product.

  4. And also the people found out that Google wasn't going to be as cheap as they thought it was going to be. Google also advertised how blazing fast their internet speed is. Everyone I talked to said they don't notice any change in their internet speed at all.

It was nice seeing the little bunny signs around the city though. the Rainbow colored bunnies that is.

  5. Good at hype, their speeds on the fiber line were like 500 mb per sec but big deal, nobody wants to dig up everything for a fiber line

  6. Note how you hear so little about Google, the great hope just fades away while Bullhorn rigs the next fix. We could easily catalog similar sinkholes but why not just keep the spotlight on this one until we hear better answers about next steps.

KC was never smart about how they played the Google partnership, and now it shows.

  8. FACT

Their Google Fiber wasn't going to actually save me any more money,, compared to what I have now !

It was going to cost me $50.00 more a month than what I'm paying so I opted NO to Google Fiber services !!

  9. Google fiber saving me what had become $55 per month & rising several years ago. Amounts to, at minimum, $1980 for past three years. I'll take that anyday for as long as they're here!

  11. All Sly could say for five years was Google, Now Sly can't remember who they were. Way out of his depth here and it shows. Any awards given are preposterous. Sly has mainly rigged a pork orgy for his kind, bullshit artist game rigger lawyericus
