Kansas City Downtown Loop Destruction???

Local urban planners HATE driver convenience and here's a look at how they're plotting the destruction of car-friendly Kansas City. Checkit:

ULI panel to study, advise on redevelopment north of Loop

A group of nationally renowned land use and urban planning experts has been convened by the Urban Land Institute (ULI) to make recommendations to the City of Kansas City on the redevelopment of an area north of the Downtown "Loop" that includes decommissioning and reusing a portion of Interstate-70.

  1. uli-panel-to-study-advise-kansas-city-on-redevelopment-plan/... that's code for White people to recommend closure of the downtown loop in total disregard for the neighborhoods who rely on it. They will undoubtedly recommend bullshit uses like building. Stadium downtown --- and by the way, these White people will also suggest that they are from Kansas City when they're really from Lawrence, KS, Overland Park, Gardner, KS, Olathe and the like and some aren't even from these places - they're from Ohio, Nebraska, Colorado and other bullshit places that believe Kansas City should be just like them. Duplicity is not a virtue White boys.

Just pulled up the article and it confirms not one of these so called experts are from here. So... when you don't live here - you have no idea what makes the City livable. You do have fun, nifty ideas that will further harm the people of Kansas City. Typical Sly James BS.

  2. it's worth looking at. the downtown project, creating an urban space including residential, is exciting and is clearly progressing. uniting the chopped-up pieces of downtown could be a big help.

  6. I thought that once the land was not used for transportation it had to be returned to the original land owners. KCMO and MoDOT cannot do anything with the land. Oh right, it will be declared blighted and seized by KCMO (with MoDOT getting a cut of the money) and given to Mike Burke for development. Typical KCMO horseshit.

  7. The title that calls Kansas City "car friendly" is beyond crazy. The portion of I-70 that cuts through the middle of town is a NIGHTMARE. Traffic includes enormous semis plowing through the snake-like ramps, cars criss-crossing lanes of traffic with everyone trying to get to the other side of town without getting crunched. Just try taking the north loop at rush hour, or the south loop, it doesn't matter. You'll see what I'm talking about.
