  1. Where is the support coming from. That's what I want to know. Wonder of the miller nichols family will weigh in.

  2. Everyone realizes of course, there will never be an end to this madness. Slavery could have been the best thing to have happened to American African Americans. Look at the continent of Africa. The blacks, Negroes, minorities are never going to be happy/satisfied. It will always be on to the next Crusade.

    Erase All Whiteness!!

  4. Leave it alone or tear it down. Let the empty space be a monument to the ignorance of the progressives.

  5. Good luck with that. People will still call it the JC Nichols Fountain. Does anyone really call the Paseo Bridge the Kit Bond bridge unless they are a newcomer to Kansas City?

  6. I didn't demand any name change, did any you people, I doubt it. I wonder who these thousands of people are, if this went to a public vote I bet money it wouldn't get changed so how do a handful of people get this much power to make changes like this? Is this secretly a sLIE and cleave thing. This I could believe more than anything because you don't hear them saying a word about it do you...... makes you wonder doesn't it

  7. No one will call it the Steve Kraske fountain, as much as he would love that with his ego.

  8. I'm a people of KC. I demand that there be no name change to the fountain.

  9. flash mob fountain? altho i have never personally witnessed a flash mob on the plaza, did they really happen. that is about as racially insensitive i can get.

  14. DIRECTLY QUOTED FROM THEIR WEBSITE:

"We, the people of Kansas City have decided it is time for change. We demand that the name of the fountain be changed so that we are no longer be memorializing a man who did not treat all of our citizens equally."

....so that we are no longer be memorializing a man....

    WTF????????

    Here's an idea!

Before you spend your time and effort trying to change history, please go back to school and learn how to properly read/write the English language.

This one really made me laugh, because it's just so symbolic of the idiot Left who hates everything, including themselves.

  15. TheArtistFormerlyKnownAsPrince8/20/17, 9:00 PM

    How about renaming it:

The Fountain Formerly Known As The J.C. Nichols Fountain?

    ReplyDelete
  16. unclear if the KC black democratic caucus is too powerful or not powerful enough, or something entirely different. Sorry to have missed the stop mass incarceration protest a couple dayz ago, did not hear anything about it until yesterday.

    ReplyDelete
  17. The Broadway Bridge was renamed for Buck O'Neill. Time to go back to Broadway Bridge. Cleaver II Blvd needs to renamed 47th St. Lets get this renaming correct.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Before the city changes it they'd better put it to a city wide vote. This crap has gotten ridiculous, for all that Nichols did and yes, he did restrict the deeds, but that's all been rectified by courts. If we start erasing all this history, history we can learn from, then everything will be fair game. This includes Emmanuel Cleaver Parkway

    ReplyDelete
  19. First of all, these fountain idiots need to learn proper grammar. That gives you an idea of their level of intelligence.

All of this protesting is getting way out of hand. One man writes a letter about a monument and before you know it,the monument is gone. And now they want to rename a fountain because of things they perceive about a man that they aren't even sure are true facts. Is no one going to stand against this idiocy?

    ReplyDelete
  20. i like getting hazed by every black cashiers on linwood boulevard, just like blacks like getting hazed by all the white cashiers on the plaza.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Better rename Jackson County. How about renaming Washington, D.C.? I think George maybe owned some slaves. How about all the MLK stuff? Plagarist and serial adulterer.

  24. 10:07 as a whitey person that i am, i have to remind u that nigger is no longer a racially specific term. It is racially fluid term, Reagan, his wife, Bill Clinton, his wife, and donald trump are all niggers.

  25. 10:22 please explain, I have no idea what the hell your saying

  26. Shuckin' and jivin' to get what u want for ur own glorification and/or to suck and jive to serve those who control u, ur 'homies' in charge.

  27. I demand that these idiots shut the hell up

  28. Fuck you pieces of shit, fuck, fuck, fuck you...

  29. If we had known then what we know now, we would have picked our own damned cotton.

  30. Another dead person in Westport tonight and these clowns are worried about the name of a fountain.

Insanity I tell you, pure ass hate and insanity!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Now the race to the ridiculous conclusion, everything getting torn down, Ford company next, all fountains, anything to do with any history, very Tallibanish. And then to pose that anyone who disagrees is Nazi and racist, how Ferguson of them. Indulging these asshats without saying they are wrong only begets more. Get ready for the state response as a daisy chain of unintended consequences comes about. Don't forget what churches did. This is the natural conclusion of leadership that can't think to natural extension. One of Kansas Cities most landmark icons at risk. Tony you poured gas on this fire, how do you like the outcome?

    ReplyDelete
  32. History is rarely tidy, Dems do you feed this monster. Action begets counter action. Giving anarchists such clout where does it go?

    ReplyDelete
  33. I am somehow offended, someone, somewhere

    ReplyDelete
  34. I am sure they can find some gardens and paintings to destroy while they are on their crusade, so much to be offended about from distant history

    ReplyDelete
  35. Here go the Chiefs, a lot to be offended about, waiting for men as they haven't been perfect in history. Isn't this fun.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Some anti-American vandals targeted the Confederate Monument on Ward Parkway and the Daughters Of The Confederacy decided to move it to a safer location, so KCMO parks used our tax dollars to give it a power wash (which it hadn't received in decades) on Sunday (overtime!) and box it up to protect it until it can be relocated to a museum (more tax $)

So it seems, to me, a hollow victory, but now some folks who created a "Remove the statue" Facebook page think they maybe had something to do with the decision and now believe they can have another success at JC Nichols Fountain.

Renaming the fountain does nothing to address the segregation that leads to poverty and violence in KC, and many of the folks hell-bent on shaming the fountain's namesake pay a premium to live as close to JC Nihcol's properties as possible *and* advocate for a streetcar to further gentrify their communities.

These same folks are also besmirching KCPD by claiming "racist armed militiamen were invited by KCPD to intimidate Plaza protestors," despite no proof except one of the militiamen saying that to a kid who shoved a camera in his face. And KCPD flatly denied it.

Completely irresponsible, and frankly, we're giving these guys too much exposure and media. The virtue signaling millennials of privilege wrongly believe the can use their cell phone cameras and social media to harner viral sympathy in the internet and spark change, but they've still got a lot of learning to do.

    ReplyDelete

  37. Really? What kinda like what you equal citizens did at Californos last night.

Change the names of the fountain and we will fight black history month, as bias racist, and not equal.

  38. Once again, people are looking at shiny things, while approach 100 murders in 2017, and its only August.

  39. I hope all of this gnashing of teeth, and rendering of garments is making you all feel better. Here's THE REAL TALK if you're ready for it: Everything you say is irrelevant because not one of you people is prepared to do a damn thing about it. Unlike all of you idiot talkers, the left has organized and like it or not, their agenda is all that matters because they are executing it in front of your faces. All you people do is bitch, call names and talk tough on a third-rate blog. Meanwhile, the left, the Progressives, Hollywood, all the entertainers, minorities, and the millennials hit the street and got shit done. You fools laughed at their marches, called them butt-hurt and keep bringing up Hilary(Ha ha ha). They are changing everything in front of your eyes and you shit-stains take it like you always do. So keep on crying and talking tough as we write you out of our history.

    1. I'm asking you this as a legit question, no sarcasm intended. But do you really think it's a good idea to sanitize history? Isn't removing parts you don't like making inaccuracies? Changing the future is fair game, but trying to rewrite history and looking at things through rose-colored glasses doesn't seem to be a good idea for anyone.

  40. Let's see what I can find that offends me? Oh, the Native Americans on horseback in the Nichols Fountain, the Native American on horseback in Penn Valley Park, the Native American standing at the intersection of Brookside and Cleaver Blvd. The naked statues sprinkled all over the Plaza, masquerading as art. Take them ALL DOWN, drain the fountains, cover them with dirt and let the savages have what's left. It's going to happen anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Weez needz to rename the Plaza Lil' Wayne Plaza too!

Folks may be more open to listening about mass incarceration if u can ur shit organized and disseminated there instead of thinking ur educating white folks about redlining.

  45. if HRC had been elected all those confederate statues would still be standing.
