TKC EXCLUSIVE QUESTION: ARE ACTIVISTS DEMANDING DESTRUCTION OF KANSAS CITY CONFEDERATE MEMORIAL MIMICKING ISIS?!?
Not so long ago, the world watched in horror as terrorists destroyed 2,000 year-old statues from ancient and nearly forgotten religions because those icons ran afoul of their beliefs.
Because it's TBT and because everything that's old is new again . . . Even if we can't get Britney and Justin back together for a duet.
We must ask . . .
DO SOCIAL JUSTICE WARRIORS RISK A DANGEROUS JUXTAPOSITION WITH ISIS AS THEY WORK TO TEAR DOWN LOCAL HISTORY?!?!
And the risk of seeming far too sentimental, the United Daughters of the Confederacy Memorial is one of the most beautifully crafted monuments in Kansas City and offers a glimpse of the depression era art deco building boom when this town was truly a grand metropolis. Consider that most monuments are made of plastic, glass and Chinese steel nowadays as this stone sculpture stands like a forgotten monolith signifying the legacy of long dead civic leaders.
To be fair, Kansas City activists writing letters is far more civilized than ruffians of any sort taking the law into their own hands and attacking the monument . . . A prospect that's growing increasingly likely over the weekend.
Still . . .
As confederate monuments come down across the nation and come under fire in Kansas City . . . We can see the culture war and the evolving discourse changing the character of the nation; Maybe for the better, maybe not . . .
You decide . . .
