SACRILEGE!!! BOULEVARD BREWERY BEER GARDEN DEBATE THREATENS TO DESTROY KANSAS CITY WESTSIDE CHURCH!!!

Great news for Kansas City's favorite local brewery could soon rip apart an urban core faith community.

To wit . . .

TODAY AT SACRED HEART WESTSIDE CHURCH PARISHIONERS DEBATED THE FUTURE OF THEIR CONGREGATION AMID THE COMING OF AN EPIC BOULEVARD BEER GARDEN!!!

Just a bit of context . . .

The Boulevard Brewery expansion is inevitable as the tourist attraction earns 60k visitors every year and they are expanding their welcome center and the second floor into a 10,000 square foot beer garden.

There is no unanimity on the issue and a strange debate amid the Westside Catholic Mass today reached a boiling point. Here's an overview of the concerns . . .

- Many parishioners welcome cooperation from Boulevard after promises to spare some church parking and provide a privacy fence.

- Other neighborhood denizens want to fight the encroachment and rally against the PROPOSED ZONING ORDINANCE CHANGE in a residential neighborhood.

- The more practical among the faithful realize that there would be little support for their fight among Council and City Hall who stand firmly in the corner of what could be Kansas City's favorite biz. These denizens realize Church will most likely just have to live with more party-goers on Friday and Saturday nights.

Point of fact here, the Church doesn't even own their parking lot and the real debate here is about re-zoning impact on longstanding neighbors.

However, all of this raises an critical Sunday question . . .

DO YOU SIDE WITH BOULEVARD BREWERY AND MORE KANSAS CITY BOOZING OR A WORKING-CLASS NEIGHBORHOOD AND ITS CHURCH BATTLING AGAINST CORPORATE ENCROACHMENT READILY SANCTIONED BY CITY HALL???

This question of allegiances and affiliation says a lot more about the overall direction of Kansas City than any talk of building codes.

    1. Blvd. is big enough. If they want to do the right thing, they'll build an expansion site in JoCo. That would really attract a bigger crowd.

    2. People like the beer but not everybody wants to hang out at a brewery. Maybe there can be a better compromise?

  3. Outdoor beer gardens can be very compatible with residential areas. They likely just have to serve the last beer at 10pm.

  5. Lots of women will be going to the beer garden looking to get fucked. I'm thinking it might be ok to get the beer garden up and running. It's better than fucking the tattooed whores at Westport every weekend.
