A beloved Southland institution calls it quits amid constant Kansas City water infrastructure FAIL.
Here's the end game for Kansas City spending all of its infrastructure cash downtown . . . Word is, they'll most likely move to nearby JoCo . . .
KCTV5: Coach's Bar & Grill will not rebuild following recent flooding
Swan song deets from their FB post:
"It was a decision made by the property owners after six floods over the years and all the damage, it is just not worth it," the post said. "Now is the time to drive by and look at that sign one last time and remember all the good times that so many of us have had in that building. The friendships formed, the families created, and just great memories."
You decide . . .
They did the right thing. Better not to risk the lives of their employees and move to higher ground.
ReplyDeleteWhere are all the car salesmen going to get drunk and buy drugs at? Where are all the 40 year old sluts going to go to get fucked?

ReplyDeleteI can remember this location flooding over and over when I was in high school. I graduated in 1970.
ReplyDeleteAn obvious decision that should have occurred after the first flood. I remember the location first opened as the Pizza Paddle, and knew at the time how badly that area has flooded over past decades. Talked to Tom, the owner, about it, recommending that he check to make sure his flood insurance would be sufficient when the water comes in.
ReplyDeletePeople should not build in floodplains.

ReplyDeletea Coaches in Overland Park. Uber can take you there.
The OP Coach's has an entirely different atmosphere. They even have someone to seat you. But the menu is the same. They are having an eclipse watch party on the deck. Tickets are $30 apiece. It is not the familiar dive that the original Coach's was. I hope they can reopen quickly, but I wonder if they will reopen in KCMO, especially with the new $15 an hour minimum wage. But Lees Summit is just down the road.
ReplyDeleteWhat will all of the alcoholic geezers who post on here do with their days now? They have already been shunned by their family's, and the bar is their only refuge. It's the only place where people pretend to listen to what they have to say.
