Kansas City's 2nd favorite neighborhood looks to take charge to new buildings coming up in their posh neighborhoods. Here's a glimpse at the effot:
Brookside Homes Assn Establishes New Overlay District For The Neighborhood
Driving around Brookside, Waldo, and Prairie Village, every so often you will see a brand new home built on an empty lot where an old house once stood. Occasionally, these homes may not blend in with the surrounding houses. It could be the location on the lot, the height of the home compared to others,...
" Is it important to have newly built houses in older neighborhoods complement surrounding homes?"
ReplyDeleteNope.
ReplyDeleteSome cities won't let this happen in older or historic neighborhoods, that house is hideous.

ReplyDeleteBrookside is already on its way to becoming dumpville. Fuck these homo associations.
ReplyDeleteThere was an overlay and an historic district in Pendleton Heights and it didn't matter. Money and lawyers prevailed.
ReplyDeleteWhen the new builds are as tasteful as the examples I'm for it. IMO property values increase.
ReplyDeleteIf cities / neighborhoods are alive they evolve,
We live in north Leawood, which is a hotbed of teardowns of little houses on big lots. We have a committee who has to approve the new plans. We call then "Ranch Nazi's". The only good thing is that when we are ready to sell, some idiot will pay lots of money to buy the lot.
ReplyDelete^^^^^Agree. Those tasteful ranch houses are being replaced by houses that show little restraint. It's the invasion of the nouveau riche, and it ain't pretty.
ReplyDeleteWell I'd rather have the nouveau rich rather than the pant-shitting geezers who usually occupy those homes. They don't keep up their homes and you usually have to tear them down after they die, because it's cheaper then remodeling.
ReplyDelete^^^^ You wish could afford one geezer hater. Too bad you never will.
ReplyDeleteGeezer Hater prefers neighborhoods full of little kids. In particular, he likes to watch them at the playgrounds.
ReplyDeleteGeezer hater's family is now campaigning to make retroactive abortion legal.
ReplyDeleteWhere is geezer hater's porch? I think I drink a quart of prune juice and skip shitting in my pants this one time.
