Clay Chastain unveils petition language to recall Mayor Sly James from office and issues deadline for council to act on re-submitting Ballot Question #2 to Kansas City voters in it's original form.
RECALL PETITION SLATED TO BE SUBMITTED TO THE CITY CLERK:
Mayor Sly James is to face a recall election for the following multiple acts of misconduct and bad faith concerning violations against petitions, the public trust and the integrity of Kansas City elections, as follows:
(1) Malfeasance of office for Mayor James' leading role in deliberately changing the intent and "substance" of a valid transit petition proposal from the people in that he and the council... voted to direct the City Clerk to order the election boards to place misleading and fraudulent ballot language from the City (Ballot Question #2) before Kansas City voters (August 8, 2017 election) that not only completely misrepresented the type rail system the petition proposed, but also omitted the rail routes and stops the petition proposed.
(2) Misfeasance of office for Mayor James' leading role in deliberately ignoring the intent of a valid light rail petition proposal from the people in that he and the council... voted to direct the City Clerk to order the election boards to place misleading and fraudulent ballot language from the City (Ballot Question #2) before Kansas City voters (November 2014 election) that not only completely omitted any mention of the details of the light rail transit system being proposed by the people's valid petition, but also omitted any mention that the light rail petition was about light rail.
(3) Misfeasance of office for Mayor James' unilateral, improper and secretive action he undertook in announcing a new single-terminal airport deal (he worked out behind the scenes with private contractor Burns and McDonald) without first seeking public input and outside bids.

P.S. So that no one can accuse Clay Chastain of not giving Mayor James and the City Council the chance to correct the complaint cited in #1 above, the petition drive to recall Mayor Sly James from office will not commence if the mayor and council take the following action by the following deadline:
The City Council and Mayor Sly James shall pass an ordinance re-submitting Ballot Question #2 to the voters of Kansas City, at the April 2018 city election, in it's "original form," and do so by September 7, 2017.
