TKC READERS: GO BEYOND BLACK & WHITE IN KANSAS CITY POLICE TOP COP DEBATE!!!
Yet another racial crisis confronts Kansas City as behind the scenes lobbying looks to make this debate all about demographics instead of more pressing community concerns.
To wit, before the big meetup tomorrow, we wanted to throw out a few differences beyond mere culture war concerns.
From left to right . . .
Major Rick Smith - Wants to put more cops on streets, has a wealth of KCPD experience at all levels, seems to have support of rank & file.
Norman, Okla., Police Chief Keith Humphrey - Offers a fresh perspective, focused on community outreach, touts data-drive approach to crime fighting and traffic enforcement.

Amateur Catholic liberation theologians are touting a VERY LOOSE connection to the Bishop Finn scandal against Smith that really reflects more on the former local cleric's bad judgement -- It's a hack hit-job but a classic bit of Kansas City backstabbing that always comes up.
And, of course, Chief Humphrey commands a force that is less than 1/5th the size of KCMO which has become a major criticism against his candidacy from local insiders.
Finally . . .
Maj. Smith has excelled at developing personal connections within the Dept. & community while Chief Humphrey has talked about his upcoming effort to reach out to local leaders if he gets the job.
The rest is up to you as TKC EXCLUSIVELY REPORTS THAT RANK & FILE POLICE UNION LEADERS ARE ALREADY MEETING BEHIND THE SCENES to support Maj. Smith whilst some urban core activists have organized a police corruption and brutality smear campaign against the front runner KCPD leader.
