Most of the financial deets regarding the proposed Kansas City Downtown Convention Hotel have been kept secret and now a local group hopes to break the code of silence.

Never mind that voters have been excluded from any decision on the project thanks to recent "accelerated" vote by most of the elected officials at City Hall.

Citizens For Responsible Government is offering a $5000 reward to anyone who can name the "Certain Public Officials" who viewed the downtown convention hotel "term sheet" . {"While the hotel's development team does have a working version of a term sheet, and has discussed its contents with certain public officials, that document is not a public record as it has not been retained by the City."} Brian t. Rabineau, Asst. City Atty.

Individuals must be willing to provide a sworn affidavit of their statement and provide the names of the individuals they now who saw the term sheet!

And so . . . The fight to get information out of City Hall regarding this project continues despite the fact that $35 MILLION worth of General Fund financing along with a bevy of tax breaks and subsidies have been secured without much oversight, checks or balances.

    I was talking with Super Dave earlier and we both questioned if the citizens of Kansas City could sue the city government for their underhand and probably illegal practices?
