TKC BLOG COMMUNITY: KCPD MAJOR RICK SMITH STAYS WINNING TOP COP FORUM!!!

Insiders, activists and busybodies alike sent word our way . . .

MAJOR RICK SMITH WAS THE CLEAR WINNER OF THE PUBLIC FORUM LAST NIGHT . . . THANKS TO A ROOM FULL OF SUPPORTERS!!!

For better or worse, Major Smith had dozens of colleagues, neighborhood leaders and friends supporting him in the crowd and the other guy was obviously an outsider doing his best address the crowd of strangers. What's interesting about the process is that most locals think its a done deal and kinda rigged . . . Again, for both better and worse . . . MSM didn't report a couple of protesters outside because they weren't really that interesting. And neither was this debate . . . On the bright side, maybe boring is good for local law enforcement considering the current horrific state of Kansas City streets.

  1. Time for a white chief of police. Blacks have proven that they cannot manage at any level of government.

    1. I agree we need a competent white guy, but that isn't what Rick Smith is. This whole thing has been a farce if these are the two top candidates.

  2. By the way, it doesn't matter who the police chief is as long as Jean Petersucker Baker is the prosecutor

  3. Rick Smith is undeniably a worthless cop, proven by the fact he has been with KCPD for 28 years.

  4. 7:27 AM not sure why being in the department 27 years is a black eye on his career. Its not like he could've been police chief before the city had that other black dude named Forte doing that.

    1. Because our police department is worthless. He has been part of a worthless police department for his whole career. The idea would be to get someone from a successful police department, rather than someone who has been around a failure like the KCPD.

  5. WTF Tony? Did this guy give you a break on a crack bust or something???

  6. One of the black guy's statements: "I was involved in a fatal confrontation in 1999 and it changed me forever". I won't deny that that would certainly change one's soul, but shoot man, you cannot draw a comparo to something that happened 20 years ago when there are murder's in KCMO literally every single weekend. AA hire would be foolish, promoting from within would be slightly less foolish; looks like a lose-lose.

  7. KCPD the joke of Kansas city.

  9. @10:30, no doubt. I'm not sure how their advertising went out for the position, if they actively recruited or what, but yeah, this is the best they came up with? Somebody shoulda put it out on jobs.com or whatever scammy site there is now.

As per the usual routine for KCMO, since the people elected, appointed, and hired to "manage" the city can't seem to do anything very well themselves, they hired a consultant to do the head hunting and produce the candidates for them to consider and choose from.
How much the search firm was paid would be interesting to ascertain, given the very slim pickings their efforts produced.
Unless and until KCMO brings in a professional from outside to run the police department, and a person that has the full backing of KCMO elected officials and the Police Board, nothing much is ever going to change.
After whoever is hired comes on board, it will be no time at all until the NEXT BIG THING program will be unveiled and funded, all the while NOT terminating any of the long list of worthless "anti-crime" programs and fake nonprofits that slurp millions from the public till every year now.
Doing the same things the same way with the same people.
Want to take a guess at the result?

So who is really at fault, Perfesser? Those elected, or the Einsteins that elect them and fail to recall them when they don't perform to your specifications?

  12. Just announced. Major Rick Smith the new Chief

  13. Big mistake if they put a white guy in there. City is black, therefore the chief should be black. In fact, all leadership positions should be replaced with blacks. Time for the new era to begin.

  14. Nope. KCMO demographic 58% white, 31% black. Hispanic 11% is not a race.

  15. Im all for this guy since it seems the Bowtie doesnt seem to care for him

  16. Outsider didn't have a room full of boot lickers to fill the seats.

  17. Just imagine how fucked up it would be if KC got local control.
