Just a bit of regional good news and possibly a sign of progress in the aftermath of a racial uprising riot that resonated throughout the nation.
Take a look:
STL Public Radio: Ferguson community center opens at site of QuikTrip burned during 2014 protests
Deets:
"In 2014, the burned-out Ferguson QuikTrip quickly became a national symbol of a community’s frustration over police brutality. Local and national leaders hope the building that replaced the convenience store becomes a symbol of hope. Nonprofit, corporate and political leaders gathered Wednesday to celebrate the grand opening of the Ferguson Community Empowerment Center. It also served as the opening of the National Urban League’s annual conference, which is in St. Louis through Saturday."
You decide . . .
The QT that was there generated tax money for the city and jobs and services for residents.
ReplyDeleteThe"community center" is a burden on the taxpayers and will attract the usual suspects, grifters, and self-appointed "community leaders" who will end up doing as much as possible for themselves and their friends and nothing for the actual community.
This does not bring "hope" to the community.
Plus now they have a business they can steal from.
ReplyDelete3:18 Dead on the money.
ReplyDeleteAnother riot and they'll burn the comm. center down too. Grifters and thugs know the government will just give them more free shit. They don't give a damn.
ReplyDeleteLove free shit
DeleteActually, now that Greitens is the governor instead of pussy Nixon, I don't think they can burn it down.
ReplyDeleteGrieten is Matt Blunt in the making.

ReplyDeletewill they loot the center now?
ReplyDeleteshould honor the thug cop attacker--
he caused less policing -- which -- over the past 2 years -- has resulted in thousands of fewer Democrats nationwide.
Black Lies Matter.
Looks like QT gave the folks of Ferguson the finger.
ReplyDelete^^^ Agreed. They had their chance and now the good and cheap coffee is GONE.
ReplyDeleteWow! a new boon HQ. When is the grand opening?
