Reactionary Vendetta Against Mizzou Racial Protest Drama Responsible For Closing Medical Research Institute???

Another REAL WORLD example of unproductive culture war politics hurting a Show-Me State institution as the effort to smack down Mizzou for COMPLETELY FUMBLING student protest encounters more serious consequences. Here's push back that is no longer "conservative" but now represents online trolling taking a horrific and irresponsible toll on the State's education with very few leaders willing to stand up for SCIENCE OVER POLITICS. Checkit:

University of Missouri Research Institute Closes Amid Cuts

The University of Missouri System has closed its $10 million medical research institute as part of an effort to cut costs. University spokesperson Christian Basi tells the Columbia Missourian that the decision to close the International Institute of Nano and Molecular Medicine will affect 17 full-time and part-time employees through layoffs and contract non-renewals.

  1. You can bet your life, that no Gender Studies, or Hating America and Evil White People "Professors" were laid off. In fact, even more idiotic Affirmative Action morons were in line to be hired, according to Tony's Post just yesterday.

    Fuck MU.

Maybe "Concerned Citizens 1950" can round up some gang bangers to take classes on firearms training.

  2. They could cut out the political science program and make all the future lawyers get a real education. Cut out journalism since it no longer exists in the real world.

  6. Mizzou is one of the few things keeping Missouri from achieving total hillbilly shithole status. Watching it go down is horrifying.

  7. Missouri has hillbillies, Gonzaga has Melissa Click. We win.

  8. Mizzou abandoned the state when it joined the SEC. No longer traveling regionally to play teams in states that often interact. Now they are bending over for blacks. Makes sense I suppose since the SEC states have higher black populations than Big 12 states. As the black students head north to Mizzou a new regional rivalry will develop but will leave most Missouri citizens out of it. Kansas City will be a KU city more and more as the years go by and Mizzoui becomes a northren version of Grambling.

  9. All of this will become ancient history the next time Mizzou football or men's basketball has a spectacular championship-caliber season. Winning will "make it all fade away into the past". That's the way people are.

In 2015, if the football team were in the Top 10 and a title contender, all of that "protest/boycott" stuff would have been brushed off by most fans. But because that happened during a mediocre season, it made things 'worse' PR-wise.

As a Mizzou grad (Civil Engineering, 2001), I'd say that if you want to send your child here (or any major university), make sure he/she goes into a degree program that is practical and "technical" in nature; something where there can't be a lot of "social justice" and "politics" injected into it.

One can find any number of ways to inject partisan politics and "social justice" into the arts, English, literature, History, Political Science, Journalism. But it's very hard to politicize calculus, thermodynamics, concrete/steel design, physics etc. I'm sure that I had liberal-minded professors in Engineering when I went there, but it didn't "surface" due to the nature of the course material.

Look at who initiates all of these controversies, protests, etc on campuses...It's typically faculty or students from "humanities" areas, not the engineering school, medicine, nursing, mathematics, physics, etc. (and yes, I say "typically).« l

  11. ^^^ KU? Obviously not talking about football. They're one of the worst teams in college football every year.

Their last national championship in basketball was a decade ago. Since then, KU always goes into the NCAA tournament as the #1 seed and they choke in their first or second game.

  12. ^^^keep talking. Tell me about all those MU championships. Yeah KU has been down in football for a few years but hell, we won an Orange Bowl, which is way more than MU. And as bad as football has been, your basketball has been equally as bad. Have fun in the basement of the SEC again this year. Crackers be shakin!!

  13. ^^^ nice spin try, Gayhawk.

KU had one decent football team in the past 40 years. After Mangino left, they've universally been regarded as one of the worst in college football. In the past 5 years, MU has won a couple division titles in college football's toughest conference.

MU basketball team has recently been very average - compared to KU football being one of the worst in college football.
