Kansas City Northland Still Hates Po'Folk

Follow-up report and a grassroots movement angry at local political leadership pushing this idea rejected by neighbors. Take a look at their petition gaining momentum:

STOP KANSAS CITY FROM ALLOWING BRINSHORE DEVELOPMENT HOUSING TO BUILD BY NORTH PLATTE PURCHASE NEIGHBORHOODS

A developer, Brinshore Development, LLC, has proposed the construction of a high-density, subsidized development directly and primarily accessed by North Platte Purchase. This was a grant won by Kansas City to rebuild Chouteu Courts.

  7. they have to build another Police station in the Northland to handle the spike in crime from the incoming democrat moochers

  8. People need to realize that online petitions do nothing but serve as a way to collect email addresses. They have no way of checking to see if the signers are even in the area. The Northland needs to pursue secession.

  9. Northlanders will NOT put up with the crap that can/does come along with this kind of housing. If this actually occurs and the inhabitants can be productive respectful neighbors who don't bring their lowlife friends into the mix, things should be fine. I'm sure that's waaaay too much to expect, however.

  10. It was funny listening to KMBZ yesterday, afternoon show. The shrill progressive lib dana kept saying (paraphrased) f-the Northland, they're just being racists, there is nothing wrong with Section 8, there is no additional crime, etc; something anyone with a modicum of common sense knows. Then Parks pressed her on a question: what if the same apartments were built around the corner from her and Ketz's house? She kept trying to weasel out of it for a myriad of reasons. Finally, it came down to what we all know is the hypocrisy of the liberal mind: they don't want to live in and around poor blacks, they want to make those poor blacks live near "us" instead. Same as that idiot lib gal on the midday show who stated several times in a segment of that show that she "feels more comfortable around the Westport [problem causing] crowd, and the [innocent youths enjoying fireworks] at Worlds of Fun riot/crowd than she does around police officers! If this is truly the prog-millennial mindset trend; KCMO isn't going to be on track to get fixed for a long time.

  11. As one of those northland "Racist, white Privilege, Haters" transplanted from Old Northeast (Wilburn Court), let me try to address a few misconceptions. First, there IS already large Section 8 presence in the Northland, there are three houses on my suburban block that are designated by HUD under that Section. The residents have been, in the main, ordinary folks if perhaps a bit more transient that other renters. Secondly, the schools in the NKC District ARE diverse. North Kansas City High School is the MOST diverse High School in the Metro Area, and Winnetonka is number 8 on the same list. Now I agree that there is an element of NIMBY and of apprehension on the part of the folks opposed to that Plan, but they also have valid concerns. The area in question has NO Transportation service, the nearest services (groceries, medical care, even laundry) are miles away, and the design population density of the plan is even higher than in the housing being demolished. So please don't automatically react to the slanted tone of the headlines, the Media has already created enough divisiveness in Kansas City.

  12. I was born in KCMO (a blue-collar neighborhood) but was forced to move when my child started school. No way was I going to subject a little kid to the KC Public School system. We found a small home in KCMO North of the River (another blue-collar neighborhood) and watched as the neighborhood slowly changed from home-owned to Section 8 rentals. Drugs and crime crept in over the next 4 decades. I went to the Section 8 website and found 11 different apartments listed in the area. One of the WORST is Englewood Apartments at the intersection of Waukomis and Englewood Road. Drive by there sometime during the day and look at what horrible conditions exist. Get the facts before you start pointing fingers at the protesters. One other poster suggested we secede from KCMO. I would do that in a heartbeat. Northlanders Unite....
