Barriers at KC bike race in which Kirkwood man was killed had not been tied together

The metal barriers to protect the crowd at a Kansas City bicycle race, Tour of Kansas City, were not tied together, participants said this week, exposing hard metal edges. Kirkwood cyclist Casey Saunders, 30, died Sunday after crashing into the barriers. Witnesses told the Kansas City Star that Saunders struck the metal edge with his forehead.

  3. It is not a surprise that the bike boys did not secure the barriers, they ignore safety laws constantly while riding, running stop signals and signs, taking up the entire lane, acting like because they ride they are superior. Yet they don't pay taxes on those death machines, but they expect extra respect while riding and not giving any respect to the other drivers of 2 ton autos whose drivers do pay taxes for the roads.

  4. ^^^ not a bike rider but do you really think they don't pay taxes? I bet every one of them own a car so they are paying taxes.

  5. ^^^^^^^ your missing the point stupid. If they use the roads they should pay their fair share and be held accountable for their actions while doing so.
