Conservatives Hate College?!?!

Shifting attitudes about higher education amid the epoch of Prez Trump as the dying middle-class holds on to tradition and more people are too busy looking for work to study. You decide:

Analysis | The new culture war targeting American universities appears to be working

In late 2015, the University of Missouri was wracked by protests demanding the resignation of the school's president in light of his perceived failure to address racist incidents on campus. The demonstrations quickly gained national attention, and, when the school's football team joined in, they were successful.

  1. "That decline in confidence, though, clearly overlaps with a period during which attention was drawn to college campuses by conservative media."

    Of course it does.

Burning buildings, staging intimidating protests where people who disagree with the Progressive-Black Lies Matter narrative are beaten, breaking out windows, riots, fires, none of THAT would draw any attention from the Main Stream Media that incited it to begin with. It is the "Conservative Media" that has brought poor innocent Fascist Progressive Professors into focus at institutions that provide sub-standard, over priced faux erudition that results in degrees in "Why you should hate Whitey and America".

    Shut the fuck up.

I saw yesterday, that some guy/gal posted that the admissions for MU were down to 4,000 and the usual goal is 6,500 out of 12,000 applicants. So, now, your fuckin Border Collie can get a degree from MU because they are taking all applicants.

That would be a dramatic upgrade over 'Concerned citizens 1950'.

    Fuck MU.

    Fake news.

It should say, the University of Missouri was wracked by protests demanding the resignation of the school's white president in light of his perceived failure to pretend that the RACE HOAXES faked by black students were real, that the FAKE HUNGER STRIKE was real and that DIVERSITY AND IDENTITY POLITICS IS A STRENGTH. After refusing to go down the rabbit hole with dead between the eyes, flat liner, spoiled, entitled, violent thugs, who, with the support of the faculty and Main Stream Media, were disrupting classes, intimidating actual students using "muscle" and promoting a narrative every bit as fallacious as the lie of "Hands Up", the white president resigned and the now obvious expected dystopian future for a once great University was at hand.

  5. College isn't for everyone. The skilled trades workers (all union members) in my family and plenty I've met through them, either tried college or never desired to. More than half have earnings above $50K, before OT, and only one is over 40 yrs. old. Second gigs and farm life is common for practicioners in these fields from what I see. Welding, pipe trades, HVAC, etc., has FREE and reasonable cost training programs for veterans and anyone else qualified. Struggling to pay college student loans while stuck in crummy jobs is FUBAR burdens! But, hardhats and steel-toes, and fat wallets riding in REAL nice trucks isn't for everyone, either. MADE IN USA!

  6. Who are we kidding? Of course conservatives hate college. First of all they aren't smart enough to get in any one-community colleges included. Second: their GOP overlords do not want them to think for themselves-lest they wake up from their Fox News induced comas and last, every conservative I know hates what they don't understand. Education, critical thinking, financial acumen, and the arts are all topics that baffle conservatives.

Hey, Nancy Pelosi, big ups on an in depth analysis.

One thing though, you forgot to mention the Russians.

  9. Maybe there will be a silver lining to this, though I doubt it. Setting aside the hope/thought that the administration will shift away from progressive BLM attacks on white students, I digress. I've watched tuition climb astronomically high from my BS in '03. My professional degree now costs 5 or 6 times as much as it did then. Unbelievable. My student loans will be paid off in 5 years, but at least I'm in the industry of my degree. I think the $100k in the face in non-dischargable student loan debt is starting to sink in; I hope anyway. Maybe by the time my children are looking at university, costs will have reduced to more reasonable rates; then we'll look at schools that have minimized the progressive garbage, hopefully Mizzou will have reversed their rectal-cranium inversion by then; but again, I doubt it.

  10. Conservatives hate smart people because they can expose how dumb conservatives really are

  11. I'm a Mizzou grad. I'm trying to get people to hate me. That's why I keep my personalized MU plates on my car, patronize MU sports, and keep my alumni sticker on my car also.

I tried being professional, courteous and a decent respectable person. But why bother?

I hope I piss you people off.

  12. Joseph Sorry to hear you spent 60K on a degree that has you working on stoplights. No doubt it is a government job.

  13. Hey 8:09 Kinda like the liberal students at Harvard who didn't even know if Obama was a republican or democrat? How about the liberal students who were protesting and shouting give me socialism and when asked what socialism was they couldn't answer and when asked what they were protesting, they couldn't answer.

And don't speak for conservatives when it comes to college, you have no clue how many conservatives hold degrees, or what type of degree they hold, that itself shows YOUR IGNORANCE!

    ReplyDelete
  14. ^^^Who cares what the students at Harvard are doing? Who is talking about students who couldn't answer stupid questions??? What in the hell does that have to do with the topic at hand?? I'm sure you and your inability to stick to topic are a prime example of conservatives being too stupid to attend college. Thanks for illustrating 8:09's point.

  15. 7:34 I agree with you, College isn't for everyone. I am a former Local 10 Ironworker. I started school didn't finish, then got into the Ironworkers. Let me tell you the realities of the trades. In boom times it is good, with any luck you'll be employed year-round. That rarely happens though. All those rain days we have in the Spring? Sit home unpaid. Harsh winter? Sit home unpaid. The second a recession hit nobody feels it faster than the construction industry. I got laid off two fans after 9/11 and for the next 24 months worked about 10 months out of those two years. Everyone was in the same boat as me. It is a hard life financially. You can't plan because you never know when you'll be out of work. The work is back-breaking and the conditions suck at least half the year. Despite what a lot of people mistakenly believe, the trades work their asses off. I knew all of those guys with the nice trucks you talk about. I used to just shake my head at them. They all live in somewhere like Clinton, MO and drive two hours one-way to KC to work. They put a ton of miles on a truck that is $700 a month and costs more than double their trailer payments. They're all divorced and say the worst things about their own kids. None of them have traveled more than two hours from their house unless they were in the military. I'm completely pro-union and wish they were as prevalent as they were in the 50's but that ship has sailed. After barely working for two years I couldn't live that way and went back to school to get my degree and make way more than I ever would as an Ironworker. More importantly, I can be promoted and make more money. In the trades there is nowhere to go. Sure you can be a foreman but it doesn't really pay that much more. I personally wouldn't recommend anyone to go into them anymore. Maybe an electrician or plumber where you can make money on the side or start your own business. Don't believe the shortage about welders. There isn't a shortage of welders, there is a shortage of welders willing to work for $12 an hour. Get your kid some computer training, they don't have to have a degree to get a damn good job in a growth field.

  16. Hey 3:08, thanks for illustrating that Leftists are too stupid and insecure to respond to a valid point with anything other than their simplistic talking points.

  17. Silly libtards tried that anti college Republican crap already. That was thinking they were smart and Trump could not possibly win because their college instructors said so. Now they want to start in on that same line of shit again? Good luck ya losers.
