TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! SOCIAL MEDIA SIGNS OF INFIGHTING AMONG KANSAS CITY 'FIGHT FOR $15' MINIMUM WAGE ACTIVISTS AMID UPCOMING VOTE!!!

There's a vote on raising the minimum wage in Kansas City this August and the reality is that Missouri State Law will probably invalidate the effort if the Missouri SecState doesn't wipe it off the ballot or refuse to certify it altogether.

However . . . Here's something just a bit more interesting . . .

In the latest MSM fake news report, "journalists' claimed a crowd of maybe 2 dozen people was close to 100 and that's counting the youngsters and rugrats in attendance and everyone overlooked the noticable lack of red shirt Stand Up KC advocates among the gathering.

Confirmation . . . As of this writing all of the Stand Up KC social media outlets didn't even bother to mention the recent protest kick-off or the ballot initiative.

Insiders reveal that there is more than a bit of division over this move and the leaders of the effort have been threatened that the Aug. 8th vote won't get nationally recognized protest support that the Stand Up KC has garnered.

  1. these people are well-intentioned but naive. a really high minimum wage would make it impossible for unskilled high school graduates to get an entry level job. maybe the minimum wage should be slightly higher or maybe the government should kick in above what businesses pay as a subsidy incentive, but $15 would only serve to hurt the people who need help.

  2. Vote yes on 3 and people will vote their selves right out of a job. They did it in Seattle jobs and hours were cut. Prices will go up for some, and some business will be forced out, it will be a domino effect.

  3. You can tell this issue has long been lost when none of the pandering politicos show up for an event like this.
The Missouri legislature isn't going to allow a city to set its minimum wage any more than they are going to let them levy taxes that haven't been authorized by the state.
And the governor just showed his attitude about KCMO with his veto of the funding for the UMKC arts campus.
These folks would be much better advised to increase the skills they can offer to employers by taking courses at a community college or vocational technical school.
Of course, that's a lot more work than marching around making demands.

    1. Some of those people my have gone to technical school and still got screwed. I know this because I graduated from KAW Area Technical School from Topeka in 1995 and never got a job from the Electronic Technology diploma I got there. My reward for the hard work of going to school is a "Temp Job" for the last 18 years for $8.00 per hour without any benefits at all.

    2. Yeah $8 an hour is a high end wage for TKC readers, so don't complain here - you're among friends.

    3. Wildman, don't be so obvious @10:41. If you had anything better to do, you wouldn't be here either.

  4. You don't understand! $15 per hour is what I want if I have to get up before noon....

  5. Obviously no one has read the University of Washington study that shows the Seattle $15.00 Minimum wage to be a complete failure, costing literally thousands of jobs, reductions in work hours and benefits and a reduction in average income for those subject to the alleged wage increase. Do these local Democrats actually ever help anyone or do they just play these stupid fucks as pawns in their game to remain popular?

  6. That rumour has not been through peer review yet so that was a rush decision by fake news.

  7. 15 and not have to pay union dues is why those stand up bosses are out.

  8. When they jack up my order at the drive-thru window, I'll usually ask, "And you think $15 per hour would fix this?"

I always get just a stupid stare in return.

  9. SLie "Florida" James is only interested in making KCMO comfortable for the creative class (meaning the college educated) while shutting out the working class.

  10. The working class covers college educated folks racked in debt since they're waiting tables or working two jobs to survive.

  11. Anyone who goes to a FOR PROFIT trade school is a fucking moron. The credits are not transferable, the degrees are bullshit, the hiring rates are near zilch, the accredidation is fake ass and baloney as hell, many of their instructors don't have colleged degress or lie about their credentials, you don't learn much of shit, but the schools do make a fortune of using folks to get Fed and state money. Vatterott got sued by one student just a while back and lost 13 million which is only a fraction of the money they have weasled out of students. Meanwhile you pay twice as much to go to a private fake school and you buy into the bullshit that you wont have to study or work much at all.

  13. Sooooo, my $375.00 an hour needs a boost too !!

  14. Yeah if I was a tight ass low wage employer I'd open up thousands of locations in KC where my stupid fucking employees can not get a drive thru order straight to save their asses. Add the pilferage, till tapping, stoned ass shit heads and drama queens and you have the magic formula. That kind if hard work and dedication always builds a good healthy business and having the right to hand them $15.00, to make local politicians heroes, while they ruin my business just makes sense.
