Free, life-saving app 'Pulse Point' could be coming to Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - An app credited with saving countless lives could be coming to Kansas City. Pulse Point already has one million users, spanning 2,500 cities in 33 different states. The Mid-America Regional Council hopes it will implemented across several Fire and EMS agencies throughout the metro by the end of 2017.

KCK Police asking for help to find missing 26-year-old man

The Kansas City, Kansas Police Department is asking for help to find 26-year-old Matthew Johnson. Johnson was last seen around 3:30 a.m. Sunday near 4030 Nearman Drive. Family members told KMBC that he was on a party bus and had been drinking that night. He was dropped off - then decided to drive.

Victim, robber struggle over bag of money outside Leawood bank

LEAWOOD, Kan. -- Leawood Police say they are investigating a strong arm robbery Tuesday morning in the parking lot of Country Club Bank, 11181 Overbrook Road. The victim said a younger man, described as a black male in his 20s or 30s, short hair and a goatee, wearing a white t-shirt, confronted him at the driver's door of his car and demanded a bank bag he had with him.

KC woman sentenced for fake marriage to immigrant

A Kansas City woman was sentenced Wednesday to a year in prison for entering into a sham marriage with an African immigrant. Tierra Ofield, now 24, pleaded guilty in March in U.S. District Court in Kansas City to a charge of conspiracy to circumvent U.S. immigration laws.

Growing up, Kansas City Mayor Sly James had to wait for his younger brothers to go to bed before he could read. "I would sit on the attic steps with a flashlight and read Doc Savage books," James said Tuesday as he accepted an All-American City Award for his efforts to promote reading.
