The Gentle Lady In Kansas City

Creative class work to decorate one of the many parking structures in Kansas City.

Here's a description . . .

“The Gentle Lady” comprises of a 50-foot floating wing suspended from the Corrigan Garage in the Crossroads, Kansas City and flies - rising, falling and rolling in response to the wind. This project was selected as the winning design in the art commissioned competition through the Art in the Loop Foundation. Joe Munson joined with Hermanos Design in the collaboration of artwork and installation.

  2. Took some airplane wings and called it floating lady, whoever approves the so called art work for the city needs to be fired.

  3. Four odd shaped snow shovels. Balanced. On pivots. Brilliant. Just brilliant.

  5. What a stupid waste, who is the real Floting Lady?

  6. The level of artistic ability hit a new low in Kansas City. This type of draw it on a napkin "art" is responsible for the low level of excellence in the arts in Kansas City. Art in Kansas City lives up to the expectations of the last phoney scheme accepted by academic artist consultants.

  7. Are these the same people proposing to redesign the airport?

This piece is missing anything gentle. Or ladylike. It feels half done. The idea of motion is a good one, but poorly executed and "designed to fail soon".

Shouldn't the Gentle Lady have some gossamer scarves attached to the snow blades? I have an entire 30 yard bolt of silk organza and duct tape for an experiment--let's try it, at least.

The snowblades are too close together for our high wind events, aka weather. They appear to be likely to get out of alignment, and THEN who pays to fix that?

And fix the damn sound bed. Geez people, do I have to do everything myself?
