Kansas City Lightning Round Ruckus!!!

While local TV is helping to scare the elderly across the metro tonight, let's take a brief moment of respite and witness this Kansas City political round-up from the GOLD STANDARD of Kansas City political discourse.

Check the description for those KC denizens who haven't had their power knocked as under the severe thunderstorm watch until about 2 in the AM . . .

"Mike Shanin interviews Michael Austin, Economist for the Kansas Department of Revenue, about what the reversal of Brownback's tax cuts will mean for Kansans. Then Jamekia Kendrix, Shawn Saving, Ron Freeman and Steve Mirakian discuss the political implications of increasing income taxes for conservatives in Kansas, the latest developments in the push for a new KCI and Comey's testimony about Trump."

Take a look:

  1. Get ready for the end of Donald. The Republicans are going to dump him like a hot potato.

  2. Some good points on Ruckus tonight but the defense of Brownback was laughable at best. The guy failed EVERYONE. He had a hint of a good idea but absolutely no follow through. This will be how the Democrats take back the governor's office. Kobach will be considered nothing more than a brownback clone.

  4. Pence would make a great president if something happens to trump

  5. ^^^ @9:18 knows the score. Keep the brains, dump the body.

GOP can really get rolling without Donald. He was never one of us anyway.

  6. Mirakian doesn't really seem to know about the law. But I still like his style.

  7. Mirakian has no idea what he is talking about! The City does NOT back the Airport Bonds! They are paid by the Airlines and airport users!

  8. I think it's highly unlikely that anything happens to Trump. The whole thing is a big show, a giant circus but in the end nothing will come of it other than time wasted and mudslinging from every camp.

It is unwise to underestimate Kobach as a candidate. It would take someone very skilled and effective to defeat him even with the fallout from the Brownback debacle. Republicans have an enormous registration advantage and they tend to hold their noses and vote for the person on their "team".

  9. Discussing 4 topics in 20ish minutes felt really rushed. I'm not opposed to having 4 topics but when this is needed I think it would be best to return to the old format and have the panel on the entire time. I don't think those interview segments are needed every week.

Rough start for Shawn Saving. He looked like a sour ball who had no interest in being there. Then, he tried to talk over everyone. Mirakian had to complain twice during the first segment. Also, reading the entire roast always looks amateurish. I won't be surprised if this first appearance is his last.

Ron Freeman made a few good points but needs some lozenges or throat spray before the show.

Jamekia Kendrix was not as articulate as I've seen her in the past and must have caught the interrupting bug from sitting in the Mary chair as she had to be admonished a few times.

Steve Mirakian was his usual self (aside from getting pretty heated about being interrupted) and got in a good jab during his roast.

  10. Shanin is all class, the King Tomato.

    And don't you forget it.

  11. Not even close to the gold standard. Zinc over steel would outrank the level of the local yokels. Mirakian needs rabies shots.
