Kansas City New Airport MWDBE Meeting

No matter our concerns about the new airport, the leadership of our blog community supports Kansas City efforts to live up to Minority, Women and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (MWDBE) requirements.

Therefore, this public notice about opportunities for minorities and women is important and represents more of the background conversation on the current new airport debate.

We'll post this one time for open comment and then again tomorrow as a reminder.

These vendor meetings are nothing but feel good dog and pony shows. They make a big whoop-de-do about helping the MBE/WBE companies get a piece of the action. Then when contracts are awarded the primes just buy from and work with whatever subs they want to. They use the MBE/WBE firms to get the contracts and say they will utilize these firms but they never do. And KCMO never enforces it. By the time it is discovered the MBE/WBE companies got screwed over once agin the project is underway and can't be stopped.
