KANSAS CITY CONGRESSMAN CLEAVER FIGHTS 'IMMORAL' TRUMPCARE!!!

This week's note from the top ranking Kansas City elected official on the progress (or lack thereof) of the healthcare debate.

E.C. From D.C. - Let Us Not Mince Words

I was very pleased the Senate decided to delay the vote on health care repeal but the fight is not over. We must remember what is at stake and continue to fight this immoral piece of legislation. This bill was never publically debated and it should have been by both parties.

Medicaid provides coverage for 1 in 5 Americans. It is a federal backstop to provide healthcare to pregnant women, to more than 1/3 of our nations’ children and to almost 60 percent of all nursing home residents. Proponents of this bill are talking about ending health insurance coverage for millions of people.

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates that in 10 years, 49 million people would be without insurance which would devastate, particularly, rural Americans.

Let us not mince words. If this bill becomes law, children will lose health care and nursing homes and hospitals will close. It is no secret that rural hospitals already serve older, poorer and sicker populations. More people will turn to rural hospitals to get care if they lose their insurance. Rural hospitals are already struggling to stay in business and this bill will force them to cut back, or worse, close.

Perhaps the most troubling part of this bill is the section on state waivers. By allowing waivers of Essential Health Benefits (EHBs), the bill removes protections for those with pre-existing conditions placing them in a “high-risk” pool with higher premiums and out-of-pocket costs.

This bill isn’t a bill for our most vulnerable, instead it is a massive tax cut for the rich. Health plans will, without a doubt, cost more and cover less. The un-insured rate will almost double in people who earn about $24,000 annually, and it will be even larger for older Americans. This is why we cannot allow this bill to go forward. It’s time for Republicans and Democrats to work together on this issue to establish affordable healthcare for all Americans.

Warmly,

Emanuel Cleaver, II
Member of Congress

  4. How hard is it to understand that this thing is costing the taxpayers big time, I for the life of me can't figure out why the rev can't understand this, plus I still can't figure out how the rich are getting massive tax cuts out of this. How many people didn't have health insurance to begin with before Obamacare even happened because these numbers they're talking about seem a lot less than before all this started. Please advise trusty TKC followers!

  8. What a DUMBASS ! Let's see how simple the Republicans plan is : The millions of people that will not have Health Care are now forced to buy that shit hole Obama care , they will simply choose not to purchase a product that they wear previously forced to buy . There are NO CUTS to Medicaid ! The $ amount or % increases will just be as huge , yearly increases may be like 10% rather than 12%% . Anyone get this ? And , yes , CLEAVER is still a LIBERAL Democrat Snowflake faggot ¡!

  9. We could save 700 billion if the boons would stop dropping bastard kids and trotting their sick little asses over to Truman on our tax dollars. Meanwhile mommie can't remember which of the future Maury Povich guests is the real father.

What a fucking party. Expect the working stiffs to pay boons to breed and then expect us to pay for their bastard kids, housing, food, transportation and medical care while telling us how we are all fucked up. Seriously Democrats! How much longer are you guilt ridden fucktards going to keep this charade up on my money?

  10. The sad thingis that poor whites need good health care just as much as anyone else. You hateful people would gladly cut your own throats to kill your enemies. It is your greatest weakness.

  11. Dummocrats give money to the boons in exchange for votes, they think they actually care about them. If you keep people down and keep giving them money they will do anything you want. It's actually funny that they are that stupid!

  17. Out of touch career politicians like Cleaver fail to understand that Obamacare has hurt the middle class. It's a massive failure just like his car wash.

  18. Fuck Cleaver. I got a hundred bucks says the mooching somebitch hasn't even read the Obamycare legislation yet.

  19. If Cleaver was so concerned about our healthcare why don't we have the same Cadillac healthcare plan that he and the rest of congress and their staffers enjoy. For that reason his comments on Trumps plan just ring a very hollow sound for me.

  20. His brand of politics is worse than Trump's. Young people think he is the village idiot.cant even manage a carwash.
