KANGAROOS TAKE 'SAVE UMKC THEATRE' FIGHT TO KANSAS CITY STREETS!!!

Take a look at the "Save UMKC Theatre" yard sign campaign local streets as University of Missouri budget cuts have decimated finances across the state and now impact Kansas City's arts community.

The city college has suffered layoffs and now endure threats to a beloved theater program that is one of the top ranked in all of the Midwest.

And so, it's time for reactionaries to stop the gloating and chest thumping over the suffering of Mizzou following racially motivated protests in 2016. The fight is finished. Professor Melissa Click was fired and got another job far, far away. The continued effort to punish Mizzou is no longer a "conservative" cause but more akin to an act of immature and mostly pointless online trolling. Administrations have changed, students have graduated and most of the people involved in racial dust up that included a minor football team rebellion have moved on . . . It's time for online denizens who are still angry about college campus turmoil to GET OVER IT and hope that Mizzou has learned a valuable lesson.

There are other culture war battles worth fighting but continued reactionary revenge against the University of Missouri has gone too far when people continue to lose their jobs and community resources are depleted because of pointless and endless social media chatter. By that same token, Mizzou would do well to signal to Conservatives that they have CLEARLY WON this fight and University policy will not be dictated by protesters but instead by equitable and objective rules that govern the best interests of all students, faculty, administrators and communities.

In the meantime, UMKC students post placards throughout the city and many that kinda violate the KCMO sign ordinance near the public right of way . . . All while hoping that Kansas City residents see the value in the arts that have been threatened by the ongoing culture war.

  6. well, i agree with the TKC comment.

UMKC theatre is a great amenity for KC. it shouldn't be a political issue, although one can understand that inclination when the theatre staff are undoubtedly resisters who themselves politicize everything.

the bigger picture is that all Kansas Citians, including the Trumpsters, will be better off if we keep the theatre vibrant.

  7. UMKC is great for Kansas City and its relative importance has grown.

Within UMKC, the theatre department is very strong. It attracts students from neighboring states and way beyond.

Folks, this is what helps make a city a cultural magnet. We need it.

  8. Yes, KCMO is certainly "a cultural magnet".
Also it's the arts capital and innovation center of the country, according to Sly and the Chamber.
But after you slide past all the hype and nonsense, KCMO is actually the fifth worst-run city in the country and has an annual number of murders fully one-third that of New York City.
Apparently you need to be very careful where and when you soak up your "culture" in KC.

  10. Yeah Get over it while you know who rants about Trump, gayness, the toy train and a whole list of shit he thinks is more important. Gimme a fucking break already!

  11. I say cut all the music and art programs. The liberals they churn out are disgusting. It will mean more work for existing talent already in the community.

  12. "Get Over It ?" Mommas-Boy Spics and Jews need to get the fuck over White People.

  13. MU, how did they get so far off track?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Time to emphasize science, math, engineering, education, medicine, biology, business, and other subjects that lead to economically productive graduates.

Most of the soft subject graduates are going to have a hard time being productive, unless they're truly exceptional.

Students taking on debt to major in soft subjects are screwed.

  15. What year is the new agenda to require colleges to teach students to be productive and get jobs? Oh yeah! that is a bunch of old school shit....we don't need no stinkin' jobs.

    ReplyDelete
  16. MU started their own decline in the Kansas City area when they joined the SEC. KC is a KU town now.

  17. the snowflake majors in general humanology who can't get a good job are going to get triggered when they find out they have to repay their college loans.
