Amid a six-week delay there's more consideration of MCI from an increasingly bigger cast of characters. Checkit:
Deep-pocketed player comes to town on KCI reconnaissance mission - Kansas City Business Journal
Representatives of Los Angeles-based Oaktree Capital Management are in town sizing up Kansas City and its single-terminal proposal competition. Oaktree was a player in the first U.S. airport privatization deal in San Juan and, like Burns & McDonnell, recently had a no-bid terminal deal shot down.
that's good news but dammit kcmo needs a financial expert advising and representing them, or they're not going to get the best deal.
ReplyDeletealso, as councilwoman shields suggested, the public financing options need to remain under consideration. first, they might be more economical than the private route. second, having the alternative will help negotiating the best private deal if it comes to that.
amateurs out of the way and kiss the crony dwal goodbye. bring in professionals who know what they're doing.
Let's wait for Trump's infrastructure program. He talks a lot about airports. Maybe the feds would pay half.
ReplyDeleteThe MOU draft was so disadvantageous to taxpayers that it reveals the lack of negotiating expertise by the KCMO officials. Or, it was a truly crooked deal.
ReplyDelete“just want to see if there is an open, transparent opportunity to participate that’s fair and equitable.”
ReplyDeleteHahahahahaha.
This is going to be a short visit.
This latest company did the airport deal in San Juan?
ReplyDeleteThat's Puerta Rico, which recently declared bankruptcy caused by massive tax avoidance, out-of-control spending, taking on vast debt, and public/private deals which were much to the public's disadvantage.
Anybody home at 12th and Grand?
Anyone with any business and financial acumen, that is?
I want to see the contract signed by all the airports who presumably hate KCI and want to "pay for" a new terminal. Show me the contract.
ReplyDeleteI posted at 4:47 and mistakenly said "airports" when I meant airlines. My bad.
ReplyDelete4:47 calls the bluff of the airlines and rightly so.
ReplyDeleteA hundred years of government by gangsters is catching up with Kansas City. Better get out while you can.
ReplyDeleteKCMO is really doing this backasswards.
ReplyDeleteKC better wait until changes are made related to Air Traffic controllers or they may be stuck to replace millions in navigation and communications equipment.
ReplyDeleteLet the rich go at it like dogs of war.
