ReplyDeleteClosing coal in favor of wind? They're nutz. Wind will NEVER pay back in costs. That's great that the massive turbines can generate legitimate amounts of energy in even low winds, however the maintenance, wear and tear, and high initial costs all come back to dollars to dollars, it can not compete with coal (not even close). Also, dollar to dollar, coal can not compete with nuclear (much closer than the "green" energies though). If you want the least "environmentally damaging" highest efficiency conversion of natural resources to electric power, the ONLY answer is nuclear. Unfortunately it is the bane of the left, and years of "capitaaaaaan planet" cartoon in today's bureaucrats means it has been demonized and demoralized in society without any basis in fact. Oddly enough though, France, arguably the most leftist of European States functions on 80% nuke power.
