Count another high-profile embarrassment for the toy train streetcar that once again has to depend on far more reliable bus transit for backup.
To wit . . .
NOW WE HAVE EVEN MORE PROOF THAT THE KANSAS CITY STREETCAR DOESN'T WORK AND IS MERELY TOY TRANSIT THAT'S UNDEPENDABLE!!!
So far this weekend we've confirmed that the ridership numbers are fake, the economic development is more of a ponzi scheme run by political consultants and in the clutch the toy train stalls.
Check the links for evidence and proof of what our blog community has contended all along . . .The KCMO Streetcar is a toy that doesn't fulfill REAL transit needs:
KMBC: Streetcar maintenance strands hundreds after Garth Brooks show
Fox4: After announcing streetcar will run for extra hour, repairs cause it to shut down early leaving Garth Brooks fans stranded
KC Streetcar: We sincerely & profusely apologize for the inconvenience #kcstreetcar riders experienced last night. More details in statement. #wesorry
You decide . . .
We didn't need THIS to prove it.
ReplyDeleteThe thing broke down on opening day. That sealed the deal.
I hope somebody makes a copy of that letter than then shows it to the streetcar supporters when they talk about reliability.
DeleteI think what was worse is how the streetcar told people to get off main st. on twitter. They don't own the road. Maybe the streetcar should get off main street since it is the one that keeps stalling?
DeleteThey rushed this thing, now we'll enjoy a banquet of shoddy work. (Consequences)
ReplyDeleteWe already know management is basically worthless.
5th worst run city. I believe it.
ReplyDelete"Hundreds of people had to walk from the Sprint Center to their vehicles several blocks away. No buses were provided."
ReplyDeleteThe indignity of it all! Can't they just move the Sprint Center to 159th and something. All parties will be pleased.
The city that never sleeps!
ReplyDeleteIf you can make it here, you'll make it anywhere!
Bamboozled by a couple 20-somethings from CowPie, Kansas.
Hahahahaha!!
And does the Public Works Director still have a job this morning?

It's time for the # selfie signs like when the 300 school girls were stolen and never returned in Africa by some despot ruler.
SO WHY IS NO ACTION TAKEN ON THE MANGER WHO DID THIS ?
ReplyDeleteDOES HE NOT READ THE NEWSPAPER OR SEE TV ? HOW HIS HE SO OUT OF TOUCH WITH WHAT'S GOING ON DOWNTOWN ?
To top it off, garth and trish were planning on a fun ride after the show.just being like other tourists,ya know.
ReplyDeleteTris was said to be in tears, but garth, always her rock, calmed her down...
Awkward !!!
^^^^^^BWAHAHAHA!!!! Tony once again pointless hating on something he can't do shit about.... See you at the expansion groundbreaking!!!
ReplyDeleteHey, how did Mayor Bullhorn's shoeshine go?
DeleteHilarious, while KC locals such as Kate Spade, Paul Rudd, Walt Disney, & Earnest Hemmingway have all moved on to make something of themselves as well as millions of dollars, poor little Tony still hides out in his mom's basement or squats on the free wifi at Starbucks having done nothing... pobrecito!!!
ReplyDeleteTrying too hard, City Hall.:)
DeleteYeah, TKC is just pissed that no one gives a shit about him unless he posts titty pics
ReplyDelete^^^BOOHOOHOOHOOOOOO!!!! 5TH WORST RUN...TooT Loot! All aboard, next stop...Deeeetroit!
ReplyDelete2:46, you can probably see Tony from where you're churning out the lattes. You might even get to bus his table later.
ReplyDeleteTony is the greatest news reporter in town, back off you libtards snowflakes!
ReplyDeleteAnd the streetcar people apologized but said that 40,000 people rode the streetcar this weekend anyway. Yeah, right. And where did those 40,000 people park their cars to ride the streetcar?
ReplyDeleteYa,shut your fucking frapp trap there, wonder boy
ReplyDeleteHHhahahahahHHHHahHHahahHa
Why did it need street repairs only one year it was built?
ReplyDeleteStreetcar is tweeting to people who have complained that they will reimburse for uber rides to their cars. Let's all send our receipts to kcstreetcar and make some buck on this.
ReplyDeleteUsually buses rush in to save the day. Not this time i guess.
ReplyDeleteSo far this weekend we've confirmed that the ridership numbers are fake
ReplyDeleteWOW YOU GOT SOME ACTUAL PROOF? WHERE IS IT? YOU GOT ACTUAL PROOF? WHERE'S THE ACTUAL PROOF?
oh no wait you didn't
Get Mayor Bullhorn another scotch and stop playing with the keyboard, junior. ;)
DeleteWell then where are the intensive, TKC-sponsored, passenger counts disproving the real data? Get Stupor Dave out there with a clipboard!
ReplyDeleteWait he can't count past ten. Runs out of fingers.
Because the bizarrely high numbers we're given make total sense, even though these numbers dwarf those of much larger cities with more established systems. Sure!
DeleteAnd let's not have any independent audits. Hmm. Wonder why City Hall's so scared of that....lol
The streetcar did not break down, it was closed down for scheduled maintenance.
ReplyDeleteSome one was being anal retentive ...
City writes the bonds on behalf of the TDD for two percentage points less interest rate. Any shortfalls will fall upon the city (you and me).
ReplyDeleteThe expansion is a big money loser. Any business along main that's not a restaurant will move. You won't be able to sell a Cadillac at 32nd and main with 11% local tax. That is just one example. Are we going to have 4 miles of restaurants and breweries? Won't happen. Lots of empty businesses don't generate the revenue required to pay for this turd. The rest of the city will be on the hook.
Train expansion is a money pit.
And restaurants and bars on Main Street are going to have a lot of fun fitting their wide beer and food delivery trucks within the white parking lines for the streetcar.
ReplyDeleteWhy are they tweeting using Ebonics?
ReplyDeleteHome Depot and Costco along with other surface parking businesses will enjoy the $54 per space per year fee for the TDD. Kind of puts them on the edge of profitability. Their margins are already low. They thrive on volume only. If prices aren't competitive people will go elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteIf they threaten to leave maybe they can get the same deal as the KC Star (who agrees to pump up the volume on the streetcar). What a crooked racket. Fuck the Star!
How the hell did management screw this up?
ReplyDeleteManagements brains, if donated to science, would be returned.
ReplyDeleteAnd guess what? People are going to forget this and move on, like normal people do. People are killing their kids and feeding the corpses to pigs. Who gives a shit?
ReplyDeleteDECAPITATIONS, PRODUCE SHORTAGES IN RIVERMARKET, AND MORE STRIPPERS DROWNED IN THEIR CARS BY JACK THE RIPPER NEXT!!!!
ReplyDeletealways someone making an indian mound out of a molehil...
ReplyDeleteThe communications director for the streetcar authority declined FOX 4's request for an on-camera interview to explain the miscommunication with riders.
ReplyDeleteLMAO
Mayor sLIE doesn't like white people or country music, if this had been a major black singer this would never have happened
ReplyDeleteWorld class service!!
ReplyDeleteLMAO
Brooks show fans dissed!
ReplyDeleteBut if it was some genuwhine hik hop that mfer trolley would have been running on time!
It was funny seeing them Tweet to drivers...
ReplyDeleteIf you are a car don't use Main Street.
Its Officially known as the COMMIE TRAIN for Degenerate Liberals who were Naïve & Stupid enough to believe everything that came out of KCMO Communist City Hall, and Commie KCMO Mayor SLY JAMES lying mouth !!!!
ReplyDeleteThe residents of River Market want the streetcar service suspended when there are Sprint Center events. We not a free parking lot for the Sprint Center.
ReplyDeleteSky got friends in low places.
ReplyDeleteLot of nuts hung over cowboy butts last night in Kansas City!
