TKC Reality Check: Callous Airport Toilet Talk From Kansas City Mayor Sly Sank New Airport No-Bid Corrupt Deal Now Under Legal Review

Language is important, despite it all, words still have meaning and this news link from earlier in the week is important to share because it offers some insight into entitled, aggressive and downright nasty arguments of the Mayor as he attempted to squeeze out a deal that was NOT in the interests of Kansas City voters but instead would mostly provide pay dirt for his corporate pals. Take a whiff:

  2. The recent Democratic penchant for scatological imprecation is meant to accentuate their superiority and disdain for those foolish enough to hold different opinions.

    The newest DNC Thought leader, Perez is famous for his unreserved and unedited exclamations with reference to his enemies on the right, the American tax payer, who is forced to bear the economic crucible for Progressive projects and initiatives. Obama Care comes to mind.

    Leave that shit alone. The fuckin airport works fine, fix it, don't build a new one so we can have international flights or international restaurants or international cheeseburgers of international gravitas. That shit works and it works fuckin fine.

    An independent financial advisor is mandatory for a billion-dollar project.

    The strange financial structure put forward is not only risky for the city but probably more expensive and less efficient than a normal financing approach.

    The proposal is not no-risk!

    If the lawyers are acting in good faith, they'll see that financial expertise is needed and bring in an outside expert to review the proposal.

  11. James comes across as just a BS artist, pretending the airlines are going to move to Omaha or Des Moines. Overheard not long ago were a gaggle of flight attendants, commenting how much they like flying through KC because of how convenient it is.

    We all understand that the usual suspects want Sly to invent a priority here so they can skunk in a monster pork project. we reject that, 150 million to the commercial equivalent of Nate Berkus and we have a fresh remodel. Do no forget massive transformation is coming to energy and transportation soon, what they would design today would be wrong for the airport anyway. Raise your hand if you are tired of the patronizing hogs at the trough inventing fake priorities so they can rig up a big project. There are real priorities here in river city, we have seen just enough of Burns and Mac and their wonderful handling of water and over cost coal power plant.

    Really, it seems the bow tie crowd needs to get a clue, autonomous shuttles are the transformation for smart cities, and streetcar extension, pulled off band aid style, oh we need an extension now to the river, and that is 150 million, and then we need one to UMKC, and that is 200 million, project creep oblivious to the revolution going on in energy and transport with pools of autonomous shuttles and renewables.

    Sly can line up all the Rockhurst mafia he wants, Reardon, Graves, Mark 1, Brown, not very good prioritization for the greater city. ATA and Marc seem to be dazed and confused, stopping the streetcar extension and airport BS as a genuine priority of the citizenry is a good place to start. Sly and the fixer class should start planning their retirements.

    Last I checked there were also about 20 billionaires in the vicinity, or near billionaires, perhaps more. If they want a hotel downtown they can coordinate together and get it done, piling debt and burdens on those already overburdened, just not right.

    Sly doesn't even look like he is sincere in the BS positions he is taking lately, same Chamber, what are they fixers for hire. The outlying cities should reject this contrived and imposed priority as the arrogance of the clueless.

    The marginal case of the river and UMKC extensions is now resisting the skunk in the Real Estate class want to accomplish. About time for them to work on more compelling experiences in their destinations, and more value, and less game rigging with the political class.

  19. ...officials are conceiving a plan to "fix" the Grand Canyon. A no-bid contract has been suggested and hopefully it will have a "dirt-fill" solution soon. One non-official from KCI- said- " Biggest pot hole ever... maybe we need a giant steel plate for now ?".

It's great that he's trying to make KC "look" better in the eyes of the nation with all the tax payer subsidized touristy froo froo. But it's ALL at the expense of tax payers. And it's all done with complete secrecy and shadiness.

  21. Is it really that big of a deal if KCI moves to JOCO? I SERIOUSLY doubt the airlines would move out of the KC market as KC is a large enough market that makes sense for them to be here. I just can't see Southwest and all the others pulling up stakes completely in KC and moving to Omaha for instance. There's still money to be made in the KC area even without dropping 1-2 billion on a new terminal. So all this bullshit that S'lie keeps spouting about the airlines leaving or whatever he's trying to say is just that, bullshit. Worst case they build an airport somewhere in JOCO. And I seriously doubt JOCO wants any parts of that either.
