Apropos for Friday going into the holiday weekend, let's consider another ambitious plan from the man who made Midtown Kansas City great again . . .
WESTPORT HONCHO BILL NIGRO SHARES HIS SOCIAL MEDIA PITCH FOR ANOTHER KANSAS CITY PARTY BUS!!!
Here's a quick summary . . .
Bill Nigro via FB: "I'm asking the KCATA/RideKc people to start the route this time.with MAX Buses because "Weekends in KC we're takin it to the MAX". This time it would run from Zona Rosa on the North all the way south to Rosanna Square in Overland Park. $5 to ride all night and a phone app that will tell you everything about food, drink and entertainment along the route. Who thinks RideKC/KCATA should start this route up again?"
Sadly, Bill Nigro might have to put the brakes on his plan because the streetcar is busy looting the ATA.
Still, let's not forget that the first KC Party Trolly/Bus/Drunk Truck earned a great deal of hype, a few nice weekends and preceded the toy train streetcar -- Which is basically a more expensive expression of the same idea backed by a TON of developer subsidy and tax breaks . . .
And so, we don't blame the Westport power player for wanting to hop aboard the KCMO gravy train now that NO-BID schemes and behind the scenes deals dominate City Hall.
Moreover . . .
Bill Nigro is one of the most resourceful and enthusiastic people in Kansas City, so don't be surprised if his new effort gets further than most skeptics imagine.
Developing . . .
1st thing that's gonna have to happen is, getting rid of the CRIME & Criminals that have invaded Westport, until then, expect less crowds of generous paying customers, like their used to be back in the 70's, 80's 90's.

Bill Nigro does more for KCMO than almost any private citizen and usually for no dough. Just cause Bill cares. He has several other projects that would benefit KCMO,shcools, and the entire city. He works endlessly on charities and making Westport and KC better. He has for decades. I know nobody who does more.
ReplyDeleteAs for crime in midtown: Its never going away completely. Westport has the best security team in KC plus KCMO police there daily and nightly. The past year Westport has had few major incidents, anything that happens late at night anywhere near the area is assigned to them. People who are going to behave badly really can't be stopped most often. Like a hit and run. Westport looks nicer than it has in twenty years. New spots all over the place and busy. Its our busiest entertainment zone on a daily and nightly bases. Give credit where its due. Good luck Bill on this project, this is bigger and more city wide than anything that's ever been done to get folks all to and from all our entertainment and shopping areas. Much needed.
I worked in Westport for twenty years. Nigro was a leader in almost every major event in Westport from Red Fridays and Bust Out In Blue, NASCAR, The Cancer charites and much more. He's a great guy. Tireless worker. Nobody has done more.

ReplyDeleteHey troll at 7:30, I know Craig, was agent in charge of the FBI in Kansas City for years, not only did he never give anyone up, he was always the target in those days, we wanted him not anyone else. Name one person he 'snitched on' you can't never happened. Try being the stand up guy he is and was troll.

Did Nigro ever pay back the money he borrowed for his last party bus fiasco?
And in a nutshell, Nigro not really done a damn thing for Kansas City that didn't first benefit him.
Nigro is a nice guy but his plan is a no go. The party bus is too expensive to work and you won't get enough people to park and ride. What has changed since the last one failed?

Drunk kids cooped up in buses is a bad idea from the word go. Why? Simple. Most of them are not seasoned drinkers, and they don't hold their liquor very well. The little bastards barf. Lots.
