The Kansas City Newsie Elite Chat

Professional opinion-makers offer arguments just a bit more eloquent than your crappy FB posts . . .

Description:

"Nick Haines, Steve Vockrodt, Barbara Shelly, Dave Helling and Steve Kraske discuss the public opinion sessions about a single terminal KCI , the response to a string of murders on Indian Creek Trail, Blue Cross and Blue Shield's announcement that it will leave the ACA exchange, Jermaine Reed's mayoral campaign launch, leadership changes at area universities and legislative sessions in KS and MO."

  1. I saw that.

They said nothing, and none of them have any real influence.

A half hour of my life wasted.

  5. How can people analyze a theater of the absurd piece at face value?

They're a whole Beckett sidebar of their own.

  6. Hey, anonymous blowhards, you are cowards and you are incorrect and uninformed.

I watched, and there were nuggets of news. EG, there is a 2nd insurance co. just for Ks. willing to fill in when Blue Cross abandons the individual ACA policies in 2018. BUT they will only accept 10,000 of the 30,000 in Ks. (the 40,000 in Mo are currently SOL.) So--word to the wise is what I gleaned and passed on to my friends' kids in Ks--they need to see if they can switch NOW, to that other company, or be first in line for open enrollment this Sept. for 2018.

For instance, my info here, not from the program, if your kid is overweight and thus on track for diabetes, that is a big time pre-existing condition. They need to have their policy BEFORE they become pre-existing.

We already know the House version of the replacement for Obamacare will allow Ks. to have a high risk pool, AT HIGHER RATES. So, duh--get your coverage before you are high risk and save many thousands of dollars over your kid's or your own lifetime. eg it could easily save you $100,000. That's like half a Tesla isn't it??

The market will rule health care. This is not a communist country. Maybe scale back on your Iphone 7's, your all access cable, your drinking in the Power and Light district, and buy yourself some health care.

  8. You know with certainty that Sly James has overstepped the bounds of ethical conduct when the Star's Vockrodt, Helling, and Kraske, all publicly question the manner in which he's trying to ram this terminal deal through.

Now they just need to keep up the pressure to open up the bidding process to all.

Helling is correct that the next several weeks are a critical time for James' legacy and any possible political future.

If you understand Sly James' personality, you would be betting that he risks it all, and blusters forward trying to push around the public to get what he wants.

  9. Yeah, he seems to be going "all-in." It may be the money being spread around or it may be a naive arrogance and quest for legacy.

It would seem that an adult might show up at some point, such as the outside lawyers or maybe a judge in a lawsuit, and restore order and legal procedures.

  10. Don't be naive yourself, it's the $$$$!
