NAACP ASKS GOV. GREITENS TO VETO 'UN-AMERICAN' MISSOURI SENATE BILL 43!!!

From the Kansas City chapter of the leading Civil Rights Organization in the nation comes this important statement for the special session . . .

"The passage of Senate Bill 43 in both the Missouri House of Representatives and Senate could effectively close one of the portals through discrimination on the job can be fought. If signed by Gov. Greitens it would protect discrimination, and foster a new era of Jim Crow in the State of Missouri. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), our nation’s oldest and largest civil rights organization, calls on Gov. Greitens to veto the bill.

“This is morally reprehensible legislation,” said the Rev. Rodney Williams, president of the Kansas City, Missouri Branch of the NAACP. “Furthermore, it contravenes the spirit of the United States Constitution, which promises equality before the law in the Fourteenth Amendment. Discrimination is not an American value.”

“The NAACP calls upon Gov. Greitens to cancel this un-American bill,” said Rev. Williams.

"The NAACP noted that the bill, initially sponsored by State Senator Gary Romine, Farmington, represented a raw case of conflict of interest. As many others have reported, Sen. Romine is the owner of a business that is currently the defendant of a race discrimination lawsuit. The Plaintiff alleged that a supervisor continually used racist language, including extensive use of the “N” word. Senate Bill 43, if signed, would make it more difficult for employees to win workplace discrimination lawsuits. It would also limit damages that could be awarded in such lawsuits . . ."

  1. I was on the board of directors of a non profit doing business in KC. Every 2 or 3 years we would have an occasion to fire someone who did not show up for work multiple times. As we were providing services to disabled people who needed round the clock attention, we would have to fire them. At least twice we got sued for racial discrimination. I totally support this legislation.

  8. All the negative comments you have just read, are made by bigots who carry hatred in their hearts. They hate people based on the color of their skin and people who have a different religious belief than they do. Discrimination of any kind should not be in the workplace. These people need to go to Springfield, Illinois and visit the Abraham Lincoln Museum and learn how bad discrimination was. Governor Greiten must veto Senate Bill 43 or we will be back to the Jim Crow laws. The ability of a person to carry out his/her job should not be judged by any disability, person's size, skin color, religion, or culture.
