UPDATE: Kansas Lawmakers Reject Tax Plan And Unveil New Budget Ideas

Lawmakers in the Kansas House rejected a bill Monday that would have rolled back much of the state's 2012 tax cuts. The vote came on the fifth anniversary of the tax cuts being signed into law. The plan would have reinstated income taxes for more than 300,000 business owners and increase income tax rates.

  2. How silly of Kansas. Don't they gasp how newspapers are experts on state finances and taxes. Just look at the money kings at the Star and NY Times. Oh wait......

  3. Laffer is wrong. Supply side economics does not work. It didn't work for Reagan, H.W. Bush, Geo. W., Kansas, Alabama, Indiana, Louisiana, Kentucky, Arizona and North Carolina.

  4. Hey 9:26AM(aka shit-for-brains) The budget shortfall is almost $ 1 BILLION DOLLARS. You read that...right? How in the fuck do you think it got that high? and don't say "spending" cause Scamin' Sammy and his crew of repubtards have been in power for 5 years now, and he has not spent shit. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out how a state can create a BILLION dollar shortfall in their budget-there is not enough revenue to pay expenditures. Why isn't there enough revenue? Because the dumb-ass cut taxes too far and too much, and there has been next to zero growth in that God-forsaken state to offset the decline in revenue. The newspapers are right, he screwed up only you, like the rest of the rubes around here, are not smart enough to understand that. Go take an ECON class you buffoon.

  5. 12:32 Hey moocher. What the fuck did we do before there were 2000 different kinds of taxes? Perhaps poor moochers ass holes like you actually had to wipe their own asses without a grant from the state. I wonder what it was like before an entire nation had to pay to raise your fucking children for you or shell out for some other program for you poor little helpless weasels that can not understand that no one ever died from putting in an honest days work. If you are suck a god damn expert why don't you run for political office and we'll see just how significant you are jack off NO BRAINS.

  6. 12:39 the problem is the 300,000 Kansas businesses no longer paying their fair share of the taxes. Do you realize Koch Industries is now recognized as an LLC? That's right, a multi-national company that operates in over 60 countries is taxed the same as your neighbor lady that runs a daycare out of her house. That is complete bullshit. How much more proof do you need that trickle-down economics does not work?

  7. What is their fair share? Where did that term come from? I'd say if a company is paying for hundreds or thousands of jobs that generate income for families, generate payroll taxes, generate sales taxes, generate a myriad of tax revenues, feed children and fuel other businesses by generating disposable income I would have to ask what would be your fair share. I'd sure as hell rather see a job creating business getting a tax break than some political hack, left wing screwballs at the Star. If the government is going to give handouts then give them to those who contribute the most to society. Let us reverse the trend not nurture more of it.

  8. What is fair share? The same rate that you and I pay, that's fair. They currently pay zero income tax. Jesus, are you Charles Koch?

  9. 9:17 is without a doubt, one of the dumbest idiots ever to post on this blog...and that's saying something! Give handouts to the rich! That's hilarious. Fucking moron.
