Another Airport Bid Confronts Mayor Sly

Update on news from earlier this week as the Mayor struggles to formulate a response as public outcry of his corrupt NO-BID plan continues. Take a look:

Mayor James still studying AECOM offer to bid on KCI terminal plan

Kansas City Mayor Sly James and his staff were still doing "due diligence" Friday in reviewing Los Angeles-based AECOM's bid to shake up the city's planning for a single terminal at Kansas City International Airport.

  3. The due diligence may be calculating the probability of litigation if they stick to the crony deal.

  4. Too many $$$$$ are involved. They'll stick with the no-bid deal for obvious reasons.

  5. This is what they're paying that law firm a half million dollars for, actually they gave them that money in case somebody started a petition. Now he'll give them 2 or 3 million more to fight off all proposals that come just to make sure the burns and mac deal wins. sLIE doing what sLIE do best.......... fuck anybody in the ass he can so the sLIE James International Airport gets built to honor his legacy of a city in shambles and corruption and murders

  8. $300 million jail remodel will be coming up, but will the county folks be getting the benefits on that or can the no-bid city people get some of the action?

  9. And by "due diligence" they mean they're desperately searching for loopholes/methods of excluding any bids from AECOM.

If you've followed the James/Justus/BurnsMcD game plan so far, you will have noticed that they've pivoted yet again, and are now pressing full-steam ahead with the terminal project as a local "economic development" tool.

To overcome the overwhelming skepticism on this crony insider deal, James/Justus/BurnsMcD are lining up all the unions, construction-related companies who hope to participate, chamber of commerce cheerleaders, women/minority contractors, and local politicos who can be bought off.

The original argument was that KCI was outdated, and an embarrassment to those seeking to impress non-residents. That was a seriously flawed argument, so now they're touting it as a jobs creator for the local economy. If you recognize this sleight-of-hand tactic, it's the same argument they're using for the streetcar. It's not about transportation, it's about economic development.

  10. That's consistent with the idea of using as much concrete as possible and naming it Pendergast International.

  11. When the government wastes money on a building and related graft, there is at least something to show for it.

  12. Vote no on the crony KCI scheme!
